Predator and Commando- GREAT! - Page 2

Don't forget the "armor-plated" hedges and bushes that Arnold hides behind as he gets shot at in Commando during the mansion scene :-P
post #32 of 105
When i was a kid I liked the rambo command movies cause of the gun fire and the body count. Even a spoof was done about it. Charle Sheen movie i can't remeber the name. But the wife and i watched commando some time back and the one scene where he is going through the camp getting a high body count, you can see the dummies propped up by sticks in front of two buildings. It was so funny I kept rewinding it and thought thats not gonna be good in HD.

Any have a screen of this its sad.

We need Cobra with Stallone on Blu-ray.

That's a real classic movie.

I can't wait to see this movie in HD. Please Fox, do a nice new transfer of it.

Ah Commando, the movie that seems to manifest itself 24 hours a day on various cable channels. I'm always drawn to its simple allure and elegance. Never knew throwing a circular saw blade would cleanly slice off part of one's skull. I find myself stopping to watch this gem whenever I channel surf and run across it.

Don't forget about Bennett, Arnold's nemesis in the movie.

"Let off some steam, Bennett."

AHaha, thats whats great about this movie, all the unbelievable things are on the verge of utter silliness but it still rocks!! What about him driving down the mountain with his Ford bronco, or him getting blown up by a missile while in the back of a Police van, and he comes out coughing a couple of times, but hes fine. Also lets not forget the 80's sound track, that movie is great . I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid with my father when he bought the brand spanking new High Tech "Dolby" surround system. Now I'm gonna invite him to my house to watch commando and predator, should be fun in Hi-Def!!

The movie you are thinking of is Hot Shots and Hot Shots part Deux!! They were also excellent!

I want Commando, too.

"This is my weak arm!"

"What did you do with Sully?" "I let him go..."

I'm looking forward to M&C, Butch Cassidy, and all the June titles as well.

Predator...pure classic and I can't wait.
Holy crap.....the chaingun scene in Predator where Arnie and the rest are shooting at nothing but the forest is going to be absolutley AMAZING in the Blu-ray version!! That scene is one of the most intense gun shooting i've ever seen in a movie and it will just feel like someone is bombarding my house! I can't wait!!

You know, I have to say that of the two, Commando will benefit the least from a HD enhancement. Predator will look much better because the jungle foliage will become much more "defined", but Commando.....kinda file that under the "in HD? Who cares" department.

With Fox, you can rest assured that all the 5 Star releases are coming sooner rather than later as well as their recent spate of 2-disc sets with the numbers on the spines.

Just like you can count on all the Superbits coming out before too long.

What are you talking about, the opening scene of Commando takes place in the Sierra mountains, how could that not look good?? A lot of it takes place in a Brightly lit mall and the city, a brightly lit air port. Also do not forget about the tropical island where he demolishes a whole army. I think that we can see much improvement from Commando, Definitely a "Commando HD, I care, give it" department.

Predator on Blu-ray. Oh yeah !!! Classic Arnold. Gotta love his one liners.
"STICK AROUND" (after impaling a guy with his knife)
If any of you have seen this show on Comedy Central called drawn together, there was an episode with arnold/terminator in it. All he does throughout the episode is say stupid one liners.
-"I will relish this moment" (After killing the hotdog vendor guy)
-"Sorry, I am HEART of hearing" (After ripping out the heart of some random guy)

Not to stray too off topic, but the best send-up of Ah-nold has to be the Rainier Wolfcastlej, aka: "McBain" character on the Simpsons......great spoof. I wonder if kids 30 years from now watching Simpsons reruns will get the joke

Who would have thought that the hulking neaderthol in Terminator and Commando would go on to be a political powerhouse today Predator has now fielded, what, two Governors.....!?

I remember seeing predator and the entire theatre laughing out loud when Ah-Nold did his dirt-encrusted war-cry at the end Back then if someone had said to me "see Jesse The Body? yeah..he's gonna be a state governor...see Ah-Nold? He's gonna run California.." I'd have been HIGHLY SKEPTICAL.

Who wouldn't be. Ya that war cry , ahahah . He should have just started whistling dixie. I don't think anyone would have thought anyone from that movie could have possibly have gotten into politics, and if anyone Billy should have done it, he was much calmer and seemed like he would have been better. Not to mention he was a soft porn star ahahah

Its funny that you say that because Arnold Schwarzenegar (Spelling?) and Jesse Ventura got into politics.
Lets see an action film star and a wrestler. LOL
I had no idea Billy was a softcore porn star. HAHA

Both of these films will likely offend the "grain police."

Sonny Landham (Billy) also ran for governor of Kentucky in 2003, but ended up withdrawing.

Actually since we're on the subject of Predator, the chick from the original (Elpidia Carillo, I think) is listed in the credits of Predator 2 (please bring that out on BD soon!). I've seen that one more times than I'd like to admit, but I have no idea where she is in the movie. Any thoughts?

She is seen very briefly on a tv screen towards the end of the movie when Keys explains everthing about the Predator to Haragan. It is in that trailer that Keys sets up for a base of operations close to the meat factory where the Predator feeds. Keys explains what happened to the first Predator in the jungle and mentions that there were two survivors and around that time we see Carillo on one of the many screens. Hope that helps! And yeah, I'd like to see Predator 2 on BD as well!!

Both films could stand a good clean-up, especially Predator.

Well I heard about the realise of (commando) I was almost tempted to buy into this crazy format war, but I came to my senses I would like to know first hand that is how (commando) fairs over the six-track Dolby stereo digital with the early editions Dolby stereo 4:2:4?

Remember Sully, when I promised to kill you last

That's right matrix you did.

I lied.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

What you do with Sully?

I let him go.

The bad guys died in such a horrible way!

Will take cooke's car, he wont be needn't it.

I was only watching the butchered BBFC version of commando yesterday and thou the low end over the three-screen was quite ample with body punches and other sound effects it was the Foley that was cool, commando packs a punch!

John, I'm not going shot you I'm going shot you between the balls! ROFLMAO

Commando is great no brain entertainment from start to finish.

I remember the crowed in the cinema back 1985 going ohh, arr, when they saw him in the rubber boat flexing the muscles.

Commando film footage

I'll be back, Bennett.

Now that log is defiantly made of cardboard like most of the wooden acting but hay, we love it.

I believe Fox has finally announced they are releasing Commando, Predator & Robocop in Germany in January.

Does anyone have any idea how soon we might see these in the US? Hopefully around the same time period!

I can't wait for Predator... I hope they've given it the treatment it deserves!!! I may never forgive Fox if they pull a "Universal" on this title!

I have it in HD and I disagree.

we need a thread with movie one-liners after seeing all the classic ones in this thread.

one of my favorites is in Goldfinger when Pussy asked Bond "where's goldfinger?" and Bond replies "playing his golden harp".
