What Personalities Have the Widest Screen???

Woops!!! Yesterday, I was on a 120 second drive to a quick lunch. My radio dial happened to already be on 550 AM. Russ Limbaugh was on. Before I could change the channel, he started talking about how wonderful HDTV is, how everyone's buying it this year. He discussed the new 108" Sharp LCD, but then he said why would he get that, he already has better, a 14' wide screen. He elaborated that his screen was sandwiched between two layers of glass (?????).
Didn't get what projector he has. I arrived at my destination and off was my radio and car.

Hey, Cineramax, did you do the install? (Can you see the catfight with Limbaugh and Max talking politics?).

It sort of sounded like he was taking a good chunk of his show yesterday just to talk HDTV!!!@@@

Jeff, by calling him a "usurper" (defined as "pretender", are you saying that he's wrong about HDTV and we should go back to the good 'ol days of NTSC??????

Mebbe we should agree with the usurper on HDTV - after all, it ain't politics.

I have no desire to get into the political argument here. But I will say that Rush does talk at length about his HDTV setup every once in awhile. I can't tell if he's a real geek about it like us---by which I mean he has in-depth knowledge of his equipment---or whether he pays someone else to be the geek for him. Who knows, maybe he posts here under a pseudonym!

You might find this interesting. Dennis Prager a Talk Show Host is on the Salem Network in the same time slot as Rush. See his system:

I am pretty sure that George Lucas' private theater is quite impressive and if the "Stag" theater at Skywalker Sound is anything to go by....

(you will need Quicktime)

According to El Rushbo, here is what comprises the display portion of his theater. He talked about it on todays broadcast:

Projector- Digital projection incorporated 10000 HDR (highlight reference 1080p) According to the DPI website, this clocks in at over 100g's...

He also has a VIP 2000 scaler. Also by DPI.

The screen is a 15' wide custom starglass screen by Stewart. He has that in a p-1500 series frame.

The setup is rear projection.

From, what I can tell. He understands the tech aspects of the setup. He is into alot of tech things and talks about them on his show (macs, etc) But, like anyone making 40 million plus a year, he has the money to hire the best to set it up.

No Steve. It certainly looks like it was inspired by the one I did in Brazil two years ago. Mine had an optical screen from DNP which should be better than an diffusion, although Stewarts diffusion screen is quite nice.

As for Rush, I have done systems for Bebe Rebozo and General Augusto Pinochet but there is where I draw my "rightliner-client" line.

Unfortunately due to paranoia on NEC's behalf they will not supply or permit Digital Projection to custom make an hdcp card for Rush. He is SOL there.

They should have used a Lighting model instead (like i did) with the intefgrator rod and lens contrast mod a la Odyssey.

I've never known the Maha Rushie to have in-depth knowledge of anything?

I'm glad you have limits. I mean, Pinochet...

He has in-depth knowledge on how to maintain the largest radio audience in America. While the other side of the spectrum (air america, et al) keeps going belly up.....

Back to home theater, guys, unless you want this thread to end up closed by the Moderator. PLEASE.

Agreed. Take it to Democratic Underground, Free Republic, RedState, DailyKos, or some such.

You're right. We wouldn't want this thread going off topic and being unproductive...

Hey he had a home theater/bunker. 7 floors underground. You could detonate a nuke up on the surface and this guy could sit there watching for weeks.

Reports are that Kim Jong il has a nice theater and a lot of flesh tones to view on it. Over in N. Korea blowing up more than just nukes.
