PS3 Blu-ray + Pdp-4270hd @ 1080p?

Well, i have a pio 4270 which supposedly plays 1080p through hdmi. I have no idea if its just as good as the newer elites or xbr2's or anything like that as the native resolution is 720p. I did go into Bestbuy and saw an elite top of the line in 1080p and it was stunning. Now i know the tv's arent the same, but can my set play "true" 1080p like these other 1080p sets or is it gonna be not as good?

Im about to pull the trigger on a ps3 and just wanna know the above and if i'll be able to tell a noticeable difference between blu-ray and upconvert 1080i on my plasma set.

Thanks.

I have a Pioneer 5070 and recently got a PS3. I tried 1080p from the PS3 into the Pioneer. It didn't work.

I think the PS3 is outputting 1080p at 60Hz. The Pioneer officially only supports 1080p at 24Hz. I've heard others say that their Pioneer accepted 1080p/60 even though it isn't listed as a supported resolution.

Oh well, I set the PS3 to 1080i and everything is fine now with the Pioneer.

I certainly can tell the difference between a high def image (either Blu Ray or HD DVD) compared to an upconverted DVD. There's no comparison.
