Holds up to 17GB per layer for a total of 51GB. One 1GB higher than Blu-ray.

A good announcement, even though it was not essential to the success of the format.

It's as significant as the BD 200Gb announcement. In other words: not at all.

"Flying cars" have been announced for a long time now, and yet I still can't find one for sale

If and when HD DVD wins the format war, it may be useful for 4+ hour movies or TV seasons, negating the need for BD altogether.

No samples. No public demonstration. No real information. It's the 45Gb Triple Layer all over again. Is Toshiba just making this stuff up at the last minute to try and pad out their announcements?

Well, at the last CES, they announced TL 45 GB -- where is that today? Not that I expect the BD 200 GB to make it either.
