Urgent! Pls,help! Sony Rdr-gx7 Pal Dvd Recorder Firmware Ver.1.82

The Sony GX7 is a pretty old model at this point in time and was only popular with just a handful of members here at AVS. I remember only one or two members in this DVD Recorder section that posted about firmware updates for that model but it's been years ago. And those few probably upgraded by now and/or don't frequent this section much anymore so I would guess that it would be unlikely that you would get a timely response, if at all.

Given that, I would post your question with Sony tech support. You will probably get a more timely response over there.

Is it possible that the file you were given was the NTSC version? If so, maybe there is a PAL version available from the same source?

I would assume that you have the NTSC version as the current PAL version is 2.3.
Undating the firmware would have only fixed problems with known bugs it would not have given any extra functionality or even allowed for revisions id DVD-RW versions.
The latest NTSC version listed is 1.3.

Are you sure you have not used firmware from another model

You have installed the firmware for the US/ Canada Model. What you need is 2.3 for the PAL version, reinstall the new firmware and it should spring back to life except probaly wont fix your original problem

Sony RDR-GX7

Using the RDR-GX7 for 3 years now. Great machine until recently. I use the GX7 to record tv shows. I play the recordings on other players. (Sony,Toshiba, etc). I've had problems with newer Sony Blank +/-RW DVD discs. It will no longer recognize the +/-RW Blanks, for any Brand, or play movies of the same format that the machine itself recorded earlier. It will record to -R, but will not play -R, even after being finalized. All of these dvd's will play in my other machines. Hoping that a firmware update on this forum might help.

My Disks are the Sony Brand, and they have version DVD +RW 1.2 on them, and are 2x-4x for speed. I noticed in my manual that this machine uses version 1.1. But these Disks worked before, don't understand it. Hoping for a firmware update so I don't have to Upgrade. Can someone recomend a good progressive scan machine if that's the course I have to take? Or tell me how to get that firmware Upgrade if it can fix my problem.

How can I see what firmware is on my machine ? Has anyone have the latest PAL (Europe) firmware ?
Facing trouble with several discs that the RDR-GX7 cannot read.

V2.3 firmware only fixed a bug with characters when the user has set the player tom operate with spaninsh text.
There is no fix for this machine if it cannot read or write to discs that are not 1X writable.
It may be possible to exchange the drive to a more recent PC variety that is capable of doing this however i have never tried this.

Maybe someone will be so kind to send me the lastest firmware for my RDR-GX7 dvd recorder, getting more en more C1300 ( etc. ) errors on different DVD-R media.
