Need advice about Home theater

Thread Starter
Let me start by saying my budget is around 800 dollars. I have a dish network 622 HD receiver hooked via HDMI to my Mistubishi WS55517 Rear projection TV. I also have a DVD player hooked up to my TV via component video. What Home theater system would yawl recommend for this system? My budget can go up to a couple hundred but thats with a lot of "honey dos". Thanks for advice.

For HTIB's look at offerings from Onkyo and Yamaha. Forget the "all in one" systems that have the DVD player integrated into the processor.

For the kind of $$ you are talking here, though, most of us think you could do better by researching separates. Try these sites for starters:

www.accessories4less

www.shoponkyo.com

You might also want to spend a bit of time reading the past 3 or 4 pages on this HTIB board. Your very question has been asked numerous times and answered in numerous ways.

With an $800 budget I'd recommend going 1 of 2 ways. If you don't mind running your DN receiver to the tv via HDMI for video I'd recommend going with a seperate component system. For example:

2 pair of Athena B1.2 Bookshelf Speakers $240
Athena C1.2 Center Channel Speaker $149
Bic H-100 Subwoofer around $200
Onkyo 504 receiver $179
Total $768

This or a simular setup would give you much better preformance and better quality components than included in a HTIB package. The speakers and sub are usually cheaply made so they can compete with the package at a certain price point.

HDMI receivers are somewhat higher in price so If you want to go with an HDMI receiver so you can use the receiver as a hdmi video switcher as well, then I'd recommend this which is well within your budget.

You still get a high quality receiver as Onkyo and Yamah includes in all thier packages but as stated above the spekaers and sub will be of lower quality.

I believe the man said a couple hundred. In that range you are quite limited on quality. You might check out the sony products and onkyo has the 590 htib for less than $200.

Here is another link just down from this one where bfdtv reccomended a pretty good system for about $650. That would leave you some cash for cables or an AVR upgrade, whatever. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=783064 Also check monoprice for your cables and such, saves a bunch of money.

I'm sorry, I must have been blind yesterday. That's a much better budget to work with.
