RS1 Anticipation Steam Valve

Everyone who's dying of anticipation for the JVC RS1's to ship should post here instead of littering all the other RS1 threads

I'll start:

HURRY HURRY HURRY, I'm on the pre-order and I can HARDLY WAIT! Will February NEVER COME?
What makes you think it will be February?
I'm on the RS1 pre-sale, just sent my HC3000 to it's new owner yesterday and using a Sharp DT-300 in the meantime. February can't get here fast enough, I just hope AVS gets plenty of them.

While I'm excited for my RS1 to show up, I can wait. I picked up a Mits HD1000U for the bedroom and I have to say I'm VERY pleased (and surprised) with the picture this $900 PJ throws... amazing for the money.

Same here, just got some for some auxiliary rooms. Amazing, isn't it?! The level of pic quality equals or exceeds a 10K PJ from 5 years ago.

Not to get off topic... but the HD1000U completely blew me away. I was expecting the PQ to be good based on the reviews, but I never expected it to be anywhere nearly as good as it is. I hate to say this, but it certainly made me question whether I really wanted to spend 5x more for the RS1 when I'm so pleased with the HD1000U. I don't say this because I can accept a lesser picture, I say that because the HD1000U is that good. I've spent a lot of money over the last 12 years on front PJs, and this thing just has no business being this good for $900! Knowing the RS1 will be superior in every way (other than price and light output), I am very much looking forward to getting mine... but as I said above, I'm very content for now.

Since this is not exactly a serious thread I won't feel too bad about taking it off topic . The funny thing is that for years people have been posting stuff like "it doesn't make sense, why does a rear projection set cost more than a front projection set". Well the answer now for the first time is "it doesn't". Other than the light control issue and the convenience of one box (which are admittedly huge factors in most purchases), economically it no longer makes sense to spend 2K+ (or 4K or 6K etc.) on a big rear projection box when you can get a 6' wide 1280 x 720 pic on your wall for $900! And when you start looking at $1000 RP sets they are absolutely horrible in comparison to this Mitsubishi. So for rooms like bedrooms where you mainly watch at night FP is now a bargain IMO.

p.s. Not meaning to turn this into a debate with RP owners - of course I can see plenty of reasons why a person would go the RP route. Just pointing out how incredibly feasible/practical it has become to consider FP now, even for multiple rooms.

Nightmare scenario:

It's February 28...still no RS1. I call AVS to inquire about shipping status...the reply:

"Two more weeks". A lonely HDMI cable hangs from the ceiling...

I just wonder how many they will get up front ? It would be a real whip to have to wait for a month while 50 or more people gush about how great theirs is . Better than hearing they were let down I guess ha ha.

To say I am excited is an understatement ! Having spent all of my 7 years here with a less than stellar projector has been tuff to read all of the posts about hi quality equipment !
Really looking forward to owning something other than Sony .

Way to many problems with QC for me to gamble again. Johnathan

"Two more weeks". A lonely HDMI cable hangs from the ceiling...

It was February, and suddenly, the RS1 had still not arrived...

Is it too late for the pre-order powerbuy?
Is it much more expensive to buy now?
D'oh! Bad timing ...
Good luck to all lucky buyers
I've seen the 2 more weeks scenario go on for months with projectors in the past. I don't think that will be the case with JVC, but you never know.

I may have to break down and replace the bulb on my Panny AE900U. I'm over 1600hrs now on my bulb, and I don't know if I can stretch it to end of Feb. I guess for resale, I will need to replace the bulb anyway, although I know I won't get the entire bulb cost back....

I want my M-T-V!! Er I mean I want my R-S-1!

Yes; yes but still a good deal; where have you been? ; thanks.

What screen to 'rule them all' for the RS1? That's my question needing answered as I have ~110" wide area needing filled and I need to figure it out soon or I'm going to go crazy. My wife keeps telling me to quit stressing over this - I keep telling her this is fun. She thinks I'm nuts!
Bad news....it has been delayed for 3 months.
Kidding! That was mean. Still on schedule for February.
That was just hateful, Jason! Took a few years off my life.

All I can say is I'm sure glad I got in on that "$50 off for each day delayed after Feb 28" deal. It will still hurt to wait, but that will at least dull the pain a little.

Really? Jason gave me $100 off for every day after Feb. 8th. I wonder why I got the better deal.
If you ordered on the 6th Tuesday of the month it would have been free.
I think I need to stop coming to this forum until my projector arrives. I do o.k. during most of the day, until I stop here.... After reading more posts about the RS-1, I get the shakes and have to find reasons to not kill myself rather than continue to endure this pain.

P.S. - If I do off myself, my wife gets to keep my pre-order spot, so don't even thing about it
