newbie with questions about HTIB..

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to read my post.

I just bought the 61 inch JVC pro tv from Tigerdirect and trying to set up a decent home theator without spending too much money. So far I have the tv and comcast HD service with DVR..

The next thing to purchase are: VCR, upconverting DVD player and a 2.1 surround sound (due to space limitation).. I've been looking at the Phillips HTS6500 and seems like a good fit.. all I would need to do at this point is buy a cheap VCR player (I need a VCR player because my daughters love their Barney tapes).

Quick question that I can't find an asnwer to: Does the HTS6500 come with an HDMI input so I can get surround sound from my Comcast HD-DVR?

I've also heard a lot of great reviews on a Oppo DVD players.. so if I get that (let say for around $140).. that would leave me about $300 for a VCR and a 2.1 surround sound system..

3rd option is to find but a DVD/VCR combo like the Samsung DVD-V9650 (which is an upcomverting DVD player) for $99 and spend $300 on a 2.1 sounds system (I can't find many 2.1 that does not have a DVD player built in)..

So any suggestions? The cheaper the better without buying crap.

It has 1 HDMI output and 1 digital input. My local sams club has this for $250... check out at SC if you have one in your area. Good Luck!!
