Newb Question

Thread Starter
Just starting thinking about this and I'm overwhelmed with information.
I simply want to be able to play the movie files (iso) or whatever format, on my HDTV. It does not need to be a wireless streaming device. My PC is next to my TV and entertainment system, so it can be hard wired.

Questions -

Are these seperate systems I see you all talking about that much better at moving the video than my PC would be. (It's a decent Dell PC).

Is there simply a Video Card (PCI) that I can put in my PC to output the Video to HD - (Composite or HDMI).

Hoping someone can help me find an easy solution, if it's an external box that's fine, but as I said it does not need to be networked, so I would think that would lower the price.

BTW - I do know enough about all this (Network wise) to use whatever, just looking for the logical solution.

Thanks
Hef

Load Vista Ultimate on it, purchase a decent video card that is vista approved and has HDCP support, load on an approved HD TV tuner (ATI has a new one coming out that will work in HD with cable cards) and you are set. You can also purchase external storage (esata array or NAS box) if you have lots of media. This way, you could even add a next-gen blue-laser-based drive for future proofing your media choices. This would put you in the HTPC department however and into another forum area.
