Help with NBC Thursdays

Given how long I've had my Replays, I should know this . .. .

I record NBC's Thursday night shows (Earl/Office/Scrubs) on one Replay, and I'm having a couple of issues:

1) Even though it's already on that channel from the previously recorded show, the Replay tries to change the channel. This results in the OSD for the DirecTV STB to come onto the screen for subsequent recordings. How do I get it to not do that?

2) The Office appears to start "on-time," however Scrubs appears to start a couple of minutes early. This means I have to download both Office *and* Scrubs. This isn't that big of deal - just annoying. What is a problem is that I would like to archive the Scrubs episodes. The problem with the OSD (#1) sucks, and it appears as if there are lost frames when concatenating the MPEG files.

Any help is appreciated. I checked the replaytvfaq and didn't find anything, and it appears as if most of this forum is archived.

I wish there were better answers...

1) I don't think you can stop the unit from changing channels as its starting and stopping the record, writing new files, etc. Ours is on stratight cable without a tuner box and this same situation seems to go fairly smooth. (although there's times the credits of one show end up in the recording of the next) So if you can live with one Replay hooked to basic cable, that might help.

2) If you plan to write one show out to DVD eventually, you might just make a manual recording of the entire evening's block of shows. Then when you are cutting out commercials to write to DVD you can also pick the exact frame you want to call the episode's start and end.

Like he said either record it as an hour and half block and break out the 3 shows
later.

Or before it starts recording unplug the IR blaster and make sure the STB is on the
correct channel, that way when it sends the next channel change command it does
not get to the STB and there is nothing to show up in your recording.

PS dont forget to plug the IR blaster back in after those 3 shows record.

I've never noticed Scrubs starting early. I record Earl/The Office on one RTV and Scrubs/30 Rock on my other, and I've never noticed any chunks of one program being recorded on the other unit. The pair of programs that I notice regularly having this problem are 2-1/2 Men and New Adventures of Old Christine -- the latter show starts about 30 seconds early. Since there's no commercial break between the shows, there's no way to get this accurate.

I record all 4 shows with 1 one-hour manual recording and 1 61-minute manual recording. Scrubs is 31 minutes and 30 Rock is 30 minutes making the second block 61 minutes total...

the real question is - why aren't you recording 30 Rock? last night's ep was one of the better ones this season (i'll admit it's been hit & miss, but when it's funny, it's damn good...lots of potential i think)
