$30 bucks or more through Amazon. I stopped buying movies almost completely through bestbuy because they charge MSRP on combos.

I recognize the value in having media that is future proof but I'm not paying more than $30 for the privledge.

I'm cheap...26 bucks...

I paid full price for a couple of combos at Best Buy when this whole thing started, but that's before I wised up and stuck with amazon. Although they are $37.99 at Best Buy, they are $25 including 2-day shipping at amazon. I've got no problem at all paying $25 for HD discs. I suspect TotalHD will be about the same.

Where's the "at any price" option?

Warner have said disc will not cost any extra.

I know they said that there wouldn't be a "material" cost increase but have they also stated they plan to charge regular pricing? I thought they has said there'd be a small price premium.

Mmmmmm, that must come in handy on dates.

$25 or bust. I refuse to pay $30 for a disc that I will only use one side for, at least with combo disc's now I have use for both sides.

I refuse to pay more than I already pay for the most expensive Blu-ray discs: 27 dollars.

And I seriously doubt that WB will be able to manufacture both a Blu-ray and a HD DVD disc, glue them together, and make it for the same price as a BD alone. One would also think that this would entirely negate all arguments of how HD DVD's are cheaper to manufacture if WB has everyone not only making another BD to go on its other side, but then to have to have line where the discs are bonded.

This is the Divx of this generation. It negates the cost advantage of HD DVD and only HD DVD studios are showing any interest in it. Which means they might as well keep producing separate batches and selling them individually to maximize the profits.

Nah, this idea will fail. Combo players will succeed long before this does. Makes you wonder if this isn't WB's way of trying to make HD DVD look like it's going to live that much longer. Without this, we'd have to rely on a Blu-ray player that's hacked to play HD DVD's, too, but without any features.

I think this is WB's last ditch effort to make it look like HD DVD has a future. If so, they need to announce more titles and less engineering marvels.

I am a dual format guy, so I won't pay any more than, what should be, the regular price for the movie if it was format exclusive. That's what I don't like about these discs. It would probably be cheaper for me if they never existed.
No more than $26 bucks from me and really I only pay $20 bucks at the max already so Warner may not get my money unless I can use online coupons or something.
I have no intention of ever buying a Total HD disc. Much like how I refuse to buy a HD DVD/DVD Combo disc (no matter how good the movie).
I won't pay any premium.

~25 or so is my limit for most HD titles -- I picked $26. I don't want TotalHD, since it does nothing for me, so I especially don't want to pay for it.

If it's a couple dollars more than 25 and a really good movie, then I'll grab it, but I won't pay more than $28 for a movie at all... that's getting too close to ridiculous.
Yeah, where's the "Will never buy" option? Buying a TotalHD disc helps support Blu-Ray, something I refuse to do.
I really don't want to pay more than $25 for a new release of anything.

I hope we can get into the sub 20 buck stuff like the DVDs are now.
I'm starting to get tired of spending $20 for a movie, i wouldnt pay anymore unless it was a "must have", even cds now are getting ridicoulous.
I won't buy them at all if I can get an HD-DVD only disc or a BD-only disc, unless for some reason the Total HD discs end up being a lot cheaper or have more features. As for price, depends on the title.... I will pay more than $40 for things like LOTR.
I'd clamp my nose and pay $30 for the key titles.

Honestly, I think Warner is about to find most of their content is going to be rented.

I can't believe "More Than $30" has the majority vote. Who pays $30 for a movie? Considering the SD DVD's are ~15, I won't pay more than $20 for an HD-DVD.
I would not pay a single penny more than I pay for an HD-DVD or BD disc right now. I have absolutely no need for both.
$30 tops tops at best buy.

like that they will be 20-25 at wallys or target or online
post #25 of 45
$30 tops as well.

I've paid the $37.99 premium twice for HDDVD/DVD combo discs and have never used the DVD sides. The fact that I'm actually having to pay extra for it (while other titles sold at the same Best Buy for $18.99) is something I'll refuse to do. I own both players but the dual-format discs won't be of any real advantage to me since there would be no point for the consumer to own 2 different HD copies of the same film - it will be easier for the studios to produce dual-format discs as they make 1 disc with 2 versions of the film. Instead of stocking 10 HD DVD and 10 Blu Ray, they can stock just the "TotalHD" discs and make sales to owners of both formats. I have a feeling they'll MSRP for 39.99-49.99 a piece.

I WILL NOT BUY ANY COMBO HD DVD. I don't care if it's HD with DVD or HD Blu-ray. I rent form BB or Netflix.
They may actually end up turning away enough buyers on both sides where they make less profit then they would if they made dual SKUs.

Also, if they push this Total HD format using The Matrix and Harry Potter, the numbers will be extremely skewed. We need to see how this media performs on average titles, not necessarily ones that buyers on average will gladly pay a premium for.
