Subwoofer humor (at least to me)

So I have been discussing building a subwoofer, buying one, playing around with the old one I have. Now I have a daughter in kindergarten that every week brings home a little novel (one or two pages) she writes with the teacher. So far it has been the "The Beach", about a trip to the beach with her mom. "Granma's house", about a trip to her grandmothers. Things like that. So I almost feel out of my wheelchair when she brings home her book today titled "The subwoofer". First page says "My dad was fixing his subwoofer", with a little picture of me and a box. Next page says "A subwoofer is a very big speaker". I guess I am talking about them allot right now. I thought it was pretty funny and had to share a little story.

Gotta get them started early!

Cute story.

Good Story. Yes our kids will know what real subwoofers are. Right now I'm in the middle of building one 3'x4'x20" with two 15" SS drivers.

Things that make you go Boom. It's fun how the little one's pick up on things. LOL.

Just make sure she doesn't come home with one saying "Hamsters that go 'POP', and other fun microwave games."

Cute story though ^_^

That's a great story. My ten year son is often lamenting the fact that "it's all about the sound" when we're watching a movie at my place.

I loved that story especially since I have a son on the way up (8 months). I bet my wife is already afraid he will be like me

[b]I'm a kindergarten teacher and every morning before classes begins we play the national anthem and raise the flag outside. It's a small private school, grades kindergarten to 2nd grade. As we're standing there waiting for the anthem to play, one of the teachers catches a smell in the air and says it smells like someone is cooking something delicious, and I said it smells more like my Grandma's underwear. All the kids can't stop laughing and it becomes the big laugh of the day!

Great story. Same as some posters here--9 month old daughter getting cuter every day. I will suggest subwoofers as a topic (subliminally, however, by playing U571 at low levels every day).

Also, have a boy due in 3 months, so I am going to have to fingerproof my cones soon!

Kids are awesome, they're minds are like sponges, soaking up any and all information they come in contact with. You gotta love their prospective on things.

When my 1 and 2yr old nephews came over and heard the 4 18's during the party they kept on screaming that I was breaking the house.

TAllen01,

Congrats on the upcoming event.

The sub arrived today and I was so excited. She was home sick today and helped open the box and was saying, that thing is huge. Ahh, I say, wait until we are finished putting it all together.

LOL, we were watching the mummy returns last night and during the movie my 7 yr old son slipped out of the ht room for a minute quitely returning ........ next thing we hear a clacking noise and we all look around and here he is standing on the end of the sofa with his electric machine gun glowing red in the pitch dark helping clean up the bad guys.....priceless!!!

That's like how my sons eyes kept opening wide every time there was a rumble while watching War of the Worlds...the look on my wife's face wasn't as amusing though...she was more concerned about me breaking her dishes...:-)

Thomas,
Congratulations. I've got a 17-month-old daughter and a 4-month-old son, so I know exactly what your life is going to be like. Good luck!

Jorgen, you have to give me details. 13 months apart--is it going to be as tough as I think it is?? Audrey, the 10 month old, has discovered the two DIY subs in the corner, and loves the dust caps. Oh well, time to put the frames and fabric back on.

Also, so far, Audrey shows no interest in watching WOW, u571, or any of my other sub intensive movies (or me playing Tiger Woods 2007 on the PS3 on a 100" screen, for that matter). It is hit a shot, grab the crawling baby as she leaves, move baby back into room 10 feet, hit a shot . . .

Like little mirrors they are. And that made me careful about the image I was projecting. Well as best I could. Little bugger turned out OK in spite of me. Now it's grandkids that pickup on everything.

Having two kids under two years old can get exhausting, but if you're already taking care of one kid, you might as well be taking care of two, right? (at least, that's what we tell ourselves ). Katie's almost 18 months now, and her attention span has increased to the point that she can sit and watch a "moo-moo" (movie) for about 15 minutes before she has to run off and do something else. I'm sure Audrey's attention span will also increase, although you may have to watch something from Pixar (not that watching you play Tiger Woods wouldn't capture my attention! )

Great story. Life would not be the same with having kids around. I have 3 nephews and a neice and we're actually not that far apart in age thanks to my older sisters. My nephews (19 months,11years old, 14years old) are all very interested in the speakers. In fact, whenever they come over to grandma's house my room is the main attraction! haha. Cheyenne (my neice, 10years old) frequently talks about how her crazy uncle has way too many speakers in his room That gets a laugh out of me every time.

When I had the Sonotube delivered. I had it placed in the dining room and the first thing she said when she saw it was yell "a tunnel". Needless to say that was a toy for her and her friends for awhile.

My 3.5 m.o. has been sitting in her swing watching me assemble my new project with great anticipation!

Have the children learned any new words?

Got to get my son to say "Subwoofer". His mother would kill me if that was his first word.
