Calibrating SD and HD

Thread Starter
I have a Samsung HL-S5687W. I use the Motorola 6200 connected via component input for my HD and SD. How can I calibrate this input (what type of source etc)? I thought about temporarily hooking up my dvd player to the component input and use DVE to calibrate the input. Will this get it atleast close for SD and HD?

Greetings

For HD calibration ... you need HD signal patterns and upconverting SD to HD does not do it.
For SD calibration ... you need SD patterns.

The optimal settings for both signal types will almost always be different.

There are a couple of things to consider.

- There are different SD and HD color spaces.
- Many displays store unique settings for different resolutions on the same input.
