ads on my TVGOS after almost 2 yrs???

Thread Starter
I got a surprise tonight when ads suddenly appeared on the TVGOS on my pio 531. This is the 1st time in nearly 2 years that this appeared.
I have been lucky as I have only had the "rebuilding bug" about 4 times since I bought the unit.
I wonder if there was any sort of upgrade to the TVGOS recently?
I am in the NY metro area on long island and have Cablevision digital. Verizon fios is supposed to be available real soon and I will be switching, anyone know if Fios carries the TVGOS signal without blocking it. Cablevision blocks it on their digital box but not if I put the cable directly into the RF in.
Let me also say that I have been very very satisfied with this machine, and really like the TVGOS when it works, which for me is most of the time.

Verizon FiOS TV is all digital (fiber optics) with no analog signal. Since the TVGOS EPG is carried on an analog signal, my guess is that the EPG will not be available on Verizon FiOS TV.

I'm on the other (left) coast. And I also just starting getting adds in the left hand window for the first time. Doesnt really bother me. Unfuortunately, I'm also among those who lose the TVGOS about every three weeks or so.

Hi all,

I just noticed this thread about the Pio 531 not behaving properly and Pioneer exchanging them for a 640.

My FIL has one and we've only set recordings manually because the TVGOS never really worked initially. Once I showed them how to do it manually - it's like Ron Pupeil - set it and forget it...

Anyhow, can someone tell me exactly what the defect is? I'd like to verify if he does or does not have it.

thanks,
pez

The TVGOS listings all go away suddenly and you're left with a "Rebuilding..." message. Sometimes it rebuilds, but more often than not, it never does or at least takes a long time.

It just so happens that for the last two days - we get the Rebuilding message.

So do I just call Pioneer and tell them that? Is that enough to get a replacement?
