I'm having issues with my DCH3416. I have it hooked to my Toshiba 27" CRT via S-video, and to my Panasonic SA-HT5 HTIB reciever via a Sony optical cable (real hi-fi setup, I know
). My setup is a little unique because I rent a condo with a custom fireplace, and the fireplace has two cable jacks. One is right behind where the TV goes (I have a cable hooked directly into the TV here), and another jack near the receiver/box, which the cable box is plugged into. I imagine there is a splitter in there somewhere, but I don't know where nor can I do anything about it.
My problem is that the audio frequently drops to the receiver. I can tell because the digital input and graphic EQ displays disappear on the receiver, and the sound goes silent for a second or so. This happens relatively frequently, probably ever couple minutes. I don't think it's heat related, because it will happen almost immediately after the box is turned on as well as after it's been running for a couple hours. I don't get this issue when I run the TV off of straight cable, nor do I get it on any of the other boxes in the condo. I also had the previous-gen Comcast Motorola DVR before this one (in the same setup), and never had a problem with it. I've tried the basic fixes, like wiggling the cables, cycling the cable box power, different audio settings, etc. I don't really have the time or energy to stay home and babysit Comcast while they troubleshoot this; anyone have any ideas, or experienced this before?
