I order Onkyo HT-S590 online. When I open I found I have HTR-540 receiver instead of HTR-340. What do you recommend? Problem is there is sub woofer is not compatible with this receiver I prefer to not return because of I don't want go though shipping and ordering expenses.
What should I do to fix sub woofer problem?
Can I plug surround speaker to both back and front surround knobs?
What should I do for surround sound speaker?
Or Any other recommendation?
Thank in advance

Wait, they gave you the upgraded receiver?

I'd call that a bonus. Powered sub time.

I don't want to spend more money. Is there easy ,cheaper fix?

Well, the speakers should work just fine (you did get all five regular speakers, right?) Just leave the surround back posts alone and in the setup menu turn the surround backs to off. It'll run like any other 5.1 system.

The sub is trickier if you don't want to spend the money, but a good aftermarket sub would blow away anything Onkyo could offer.

Any recommendation for sub? And what's price range? Is there adapter to convert sub SKW-340 to SKW-540?

How much are you willing to spend for a replacement sub? Give us your range and we can make several recommendations.

If you're interestd I'll buy the HT-R540 from you for the same price as a 504 from shoponkyo, providing you've tested it and it works, I doubt the waranty is transferable. Then you can purchase a HT-R330 from accessories4less which they have in stock now and it's basically the same receiver as the 340 and make a profit or you can order another 590 system for about the same price and both our problems are solved. Let me know if you're interested.

Man if I knew that would happen to me I'd order the 590 system lol

PS. I just checked, ac4less doesn't have the ht-r330 listed anymore, they did yesterday grrr. Anway you could still purchase another 590 for the same price.

I am looking for quick and easy solution. Run quick to circuit city or bestbuy and I am looking for quick easy solution. Run quick to circuit city or bestbuy and buy something to fix it. By the way this refurbished system and live in Covina,CA. I don't want to wait for another shipment. Shop Onkyo (Fedex) couldn't deliver because of incorrect address. (But its right address but they couldn't find it) So I drove 15 miles to pick it from FedEx distribution center.

quick solution would be to buy a sub locally.

Not $50, but $89. In stock at the Montclair & Pomona CC's, out of stock in West Covina. I used to live in San Dimas and went to college in Pomona so I know your area very well.

Sell the passive sub on eBay and you probably make up the difference.

Thank you very much for info. I am going to use my system for while without subwoofer. When I can afford $89 I will purchase that. My wife already complains that I spend too much.
