1080p Displays that I saw at CES 2007 (All types of Displays) - Page 5

Mitsubishi has no 1080p LCDs? It seemed like they had a lowish presence at CES 2007 based on the lack of press releases, but this seems hard to believe.

Nice work on the pictures!

Yeah, going over all the pictures again, I find it odd that Mitsubishi didn't have at least the Diamond Series line of RPTV in 1080p. Then again, I may have just run through their booth.

Great job, this is very much appreciated.

WoW thanks so much GotHDTV!

2007 looks to be the year of the LCD!
Great job. Lots of hard work. Thank you.

The slim line crts, what was the depth. Are they anywhere near slim compared to flat panels. Thanks!
Thanks for all the hard work dude.
great job, it brings me hope that we'll be seeing some high resolution, large computer monitors!!
HD what sets really stood out to you?( WOW factor) Or were there to many that did, that it's hard to pick out one or two?
I remember your thread from last year. Great work, man. It's really appreciated!
Thank you for your hard work and sharing.

What would be your top five panels after seeing perhaps hundreds - what really stood out that isn't a prototype?
Thanks! Great work.

wow. GotHDTV? you rock!!! thanks.
Thanks for all that hard work.. lots of nice looking panels
post #135 of 228
Thank you for taking time to do this. Very good info.

I am surprised by the lack of LCD's in sizes larger than 52" from Sony (other than 80" prototype). I expected to see a 57" there at least.

The story is just incomplete. Sony presented 70 incher, BRAVIA KDL-70XBR3. It can be preordered now and deliveries start next month. The set is absolutely full of tech goodies which is compensated by its knockout price of 33 grands:

I am wondering if any manufacturers were showing models with HDMI version 1.3? I saw one report from Denon announcing that all of their AV receivers would be 1.3 capable. I have been hoping that this years crop of hdtv's would also sport this advancement.

Right, I did see that, but I was thinking of something more in the 55"-65" territory priced to compete with plasmas in that range. Something like the Samsung and Sharp models.

Re: Panasonic Plasma Stats.

"4096 Equivalent Shades of Gradation" What does that mean, how does it compare to their 2006 stats, and what is it "Equivalent " to?. Thanks.

Sony and Samsung were showing them, coming later this year.

Nah, the slim CRTs are nowhere close to Flat Panels. It they were, I guess they would be SED. Now the Slim DLP are getting close to Flat Panels, but again those were about 2-3 times thicker.

Alan, any chance you can make this a sticky for a week?

The only wow things at the show were prototypes. Last year it was SED, Sharp's 1M to 1 Contrast LCD, and Westinghouse's Quad resolution Monitor. This year was Sony OLED display and maybe Westinghouse's Quad resolution Monitor again (those the Quad is not as wowing as OLED even if it was higher resolution). The colors on the OLED was amazing and it looked like a moving photograph, plus it was super thin.

Well, it is hard to pick because there is so much to see that you don't really spend too much time at a display for too long. I guess it would be mostly the panels with 120Hz frame rate which would be the Sharps, Toshibas, etc. I kind of like the gimmicky amblight Philip models this year. Last year's amblight models were only 720p while this year's are 1080p. Maybe it was their cabinet design, I don't know, it just had an appeal to me....or maybe just dark and the glow got me.

irkuck said there are some manufacturers that are coming with 1.3. Some of those stats cards say HDMI 1.3.

Yeah, I'm not sure if it was there or I missed it. Like I said there was too much to see.

How much larger are you talking about for a computer monitor? Beside the Westinghouse Quad monitor, the was a Samsung 30" LCD (which I'm considering) called the Samsung Syncmaster 305T. It says it has a resolution 2560x1600 and a 0.23 dot pitch (while other monitors have 0.29 dot pitch). I spoke to the rep and he said it is HDCP compliant.

Here are some pictures. The stat picture is not clear with the down res to fit the page, but I posted vital stats above. It also not a bad picture of the actual monitor.

regarding those 120Hz Sharps -- that's a fake 120Hz framerate, correct? that is, you can't actually output a 120Hz signal from a PC over dual DVI or even HDMI and actually see all 120frames on the screen, right? My understanding is that it's just an interpolation thing for 60Hz, 30Hz, and 24Hz signals.

outstanding, excellent, excellent work, thanks
