I'm trying to set up the as-eq1 with my Denon 3312 and can't get the sat channel to work. I'm now trying to run the as-eq1 with out the sat channel. When I run Audyssey, after the aseq1, it chirps the sub and gives the sub channel new trims and distances??

I believe I'm extremely confused and can't seem to get it to work........HELP!
What input are you using on the Denon for SAT?
Batpig explained it a little to me on the Denon thread....kinda makes sense but how come Audyssey is detecting a sub and chirping it after running the eq1?

If your receiver/processor has Audyssey, that is the recommended way ... for the receiver/processor to pull everything together with *it's* Audyssey.

OK cool, but when do I enter the values that the aseq1 gave me? before or after I run Audyssey?

the guide says to add the distance and trim volume to my receiver that the eq1 gave me but also says that those values are for cross reference. That kinda confuses me.

As I understand it, you don't have to do this with a receiver that has Audyssey--this step is only needed with an non-Audyssey receiver.

Thanks, I'll giver a go.

Bingo. This completely confused me to, and yes, the right answer is to ignore it if your receiver has Audyssey...

Precisely.

I think I got it to work, thanks pepar and nathan_h.

In fact, pepar and I quoted you, rather than actually offering anything helpful....

In retrospect I really regret selling mine Wish SVS hadn't discontinued it.

so with SVS discontinuing the eq1 and ED oos on theres. where else do i turn to?
A used AS-EQ1, or a receiver processor with Audyssey MultEQ XT 32.

I have xt,any benefit with that?

Yes. the AS-EQ1 gives you much more resolution than XT in EQ'ing your sub. It can also separately EQ two subs, which (I think) xt can only EQ as one. XT32 adds higher resolution EQ to your mains in addition to doing everything the AS-EQ1 does.

Just keep watching Audiogon, Ebay, etc. They will pop up for sale as guys upgrade to XT32 receivers and processors. Although I see there is an Antimode for sale on the classifieds here.....

Someone interested in an AS-EQ1 might hang out at threads for receivers/processors with "only" Audyssey MultEQ XT (or lower).

Jeff

Or potentially threads for receivers/processors that have a difficult time with multiple subs and/or the need to have independent sub outputs.
That, too. But that would be non-XT 32 boxes IMO. Even the generation or receiver/processor with "dual" sub outs simply "Y'd" them internally netting nothing more than an external adapter would.

Jeff, if i place my subs with the woofers firing away from each other (amps facing each other) do i have to adjust the phase knob at the back of the sub? or does the EQ1 take that into account already?

The EQ1 will do its thing, but put both subs at the same setting for phase...0 or whatever.

Yea, my rule is to never touch a phase control other than to make sure they are at zero.

See update at bottom.........

Haven't even listened to it yet... taking a little break.

Instructions were good, but I wanted to check on a couple of things.

I did the level matching procedure on the center channel, but it came in less than a half db different, so I didn't bother to make any corrections to it, or the other levels. I expected the levels to be more different, so I hope I did this correctly.

AND, the distance and trim that the SVS Eq gave were 24'1" and - 2.7 db, so I entered those into MCACC manually. The MCACC values were 6'10" and -8.0 db, so that seems weird too.

Each MCACC memory position has it's own levels, so do I have to adjust them in all of the memory positions? I usually only use 2 or 3 of them at most.

But the proof is in the listening. Will fire it up shortly and give it a go.

Wife is out of town so will have to restrain myself.

Picked up the new TRON on BD for viewing later.

Looks like I'm getting down to around 28Hz in my room. (Aperion rates it: -3dB, 20Hz - 200Hz -- -6dB, 16Hz - 200Hz)

Hey all, just wanted to update. I relocated my sub away from the corner and re-ran Audyssey.
It seemed more complicated this time. Hope it went ok.

Moved it forward about 3 feet, still along the wall, but out in front of the tv now. The before and afters are both better. Especially the after.
Much flatter, and with more extension. 24 Hz vs 30 Hz (or so). Woohoo!
