You will know when you get the letter in the mail. Comcast does not put out anything more than a few months in advance.

Got the letter about the digital conversion in Salem with a January 1st date. Made me more content with the switch to DirecTV.

And we generally get some indication a day or two beforehand, no more than that, and no guarantees even that.

Has anyone got a DCX box in the metrowest area, specifically I am wondering if the local Milford office is stocking them. I feel like I visit them too often so I'd like to confirm if they have these or not before I make a trip over. 160gb is just too small for HDTV.

Got the letter Sat in Winthrop.

It's not metrowest (sorry), but I recently checked Lowell and Westford with no luck.

Good afternoon,
I got this email a few days ago since I have RCN for my internet and phone still:
http://www.rcn.com/boston/j/tivo

Curious how they can do this while Comcast is still struggling along. From doing some further investigating it looks like they will be using brand new boxes as opposed to installing tivo software onto their moto dvrs. It has me considering making the jump back to RCN and to save some money with a bundle...especially since Watertown is not due for Fios at any point and we aren't on a list for the digital conversion. Anyone have any thoughts on this rcn announcement and if it sounds too good to be true?

I say we should compile a Bringing Up The Rear list to track the number of Boston-area communities not listed above. So far I have:

Braintree, Chelmsford, Cohasset, Fall River, Hanover, Hingham, Hull, Norwell, Quincy, Scituate, Watertown and Weymouth.

Please speak up if your town has not gotten the conversion notice (through January) and it's not among the 12 I just listed. Thanks!

Don't see Billerica on the lists.

Bob, what is the purpose of doing this? I'm sure there is just as many if not more that have not recieved notice's yet that have. Like I said in another post, this will be a long slow process and for those that do not have the patience, there are other options.

It's a not a form of complaint, I'm just interested in seeing where we all are. I do understand that they can't do this all at once. And if people know that there are a lot of others in the same boat, it may make the wait easier.

now mun2 can only be recieved through a digital box or a CableCard. enjoy the qualifier later today!

Question: does the digital conversion require a Comcast Tech visit, or can you simply go to your local office and pick up two DTA's?

Are just the locals still in the clear or are all the expanded basic ones as well?

As of now, both are in the clear. I wouldn't expect expanded basic to remain in the clear forever though.

Thanks, yes I know Comcast has filed for a waiver and it is only a matter of time if approved.

Oh, nothing interesting then I just got the Sports package for the Fox Soccer Channel as the English Premier League just restarted this weekend
post #5430 of 8475
Glad to see that Fox is using multiple outlets for its coverage of the UEFA Champions League. Fox Soccer Channel has one live match on game days, while the regional Fox sports channels (in our case, Comcast Sports Net) carry another in widescreen (today it's Arsenal vs. Celtic!).

The other news is that ESPN has picked up a bunch of English Premier League matches that FSC doesn't carry. (It's tied in with the financial problems that Setanta is having.) They'll have the early Saturday matches (7:30AM locally) and the "Monday night football" fixtures (3PM locally). All on ESPN2, and apparently some or all will be in HD!
