YES. The 6416 is a very old model. It only has a 160GB hard drive, it will not support hard drive expansion via eSATA, it will not fully support the HD guide, it is slower, it uses more power, etc. At the very least, make sure they give you the 7216. The 7216 is only 160GB but it will at least support hard drive expansion via eSATA (up to 1 TB if you need it), fully support the HD guide, it will be faster and support other features in IMG 1.9.
Verizon is phasing out the 6416 STB's so I would be very surprised if they actually gave one to a new customer, regardless of what the email said. Just be friendly with the installer and ask for the black DVR if he tries to give you the silver one. The installers have inventory in their vans and will generally be more than happy to give you what you want. Knowing what I know now, I would refuse the 6416 at installation and request the 7232. You don't want a STB that is being phased out and will not be fully compatible with the new software release rolling out in April-May.
As an aside to the loyal Comcast customers, I do not want to highjack this Comcast thread with FiOS information. However, I am happy to provide information about FiOS when asked. In an effort to keep this thread on topic, members are more than welcome to PM me with specific questions. I continue to follow this thread since I used to be a Comcast customer and I like to see what the competitors are offering.
