I think I just heard 44.5 is coming in July, but not sure of a date, or channel number as of yet.

WGBX HD should launch on Comcast July 1. Channel 818 in most communities; channel 718 in Plymouth/South Shore and Amesbury/Gloucester areas.
WGBX occupies channel 16 in Bristol County, so if it does get carried in Bristol County, it would make sense for WGBX HD to occupy channel 816.

Considering that this is just a PBS station, I don't see why Comcast wouldn't carry it in Bristol County...

I don't think it will be on 816 because that's being used by WUNI HD. And I think it probably will be carried in Bristol County, since WSBE HD is carried outside Bristol County.

Does anyone know if MetroBoston will be included in the Tivo w/ Comcast OnDemand rollout and if so when?

Comcast does not update their DVRs frequently enough and when they do, upgrading is a hassle (and a crapshoot). I would like to get a Tivo HD STB, but until recently you could not get Comcast ondemand with it. I read that Comcast is allowing Tivo HD owners with Comcast to access ondemand beginning in major markets, but not sure when we will get this here.

We don't get WUNI in HD for some weird reason. I don't why, considering that I don't think Providence has a Univision channel.

And for your curiosity, here's the local HD lineup for Bristol County on Comcast:

802: WGBH HD
803: WPXQ HD
804: WBZ HD
805: WCVB HD
806: WLNE HD
807: WHDH HD
809: NECN HD
810: WJAR HD
811: WNAC HD
812: WPRI HD
813: WLWC HD
814: WSBK HD
819: WSBE HD
820: WNAC (MyRI TV) HD

So chances are it will be on 815-818, if it is carried.

encore wam is on channel 197 (standard). i think this one is new because i don't remember seeing it in the channel lineup before.
Yeah channel 197 is new and I believe HDNET is coming on June 30th. Channel has a lot of MMA fighting on it about time Comcast got it.
Encore Wam used to be on channel 225.
It is going to be renamed Encore Family August 1st.

So what channel is HDNet movies going to be on?

Today I received a piece of mail that detailed what is going to happen in the next six or so weeks.
July 26th the following channels need a set top box, digital adapter or cable card (who has those?)
Lifetime, Versus, TNT, HGTV, Cartoon Network, TLC, The Weather Channel AMC, TCM, Animal Planet, E!, Food Network and Travel Channel.

On August 10th the following will be added (some of these are already in hd)

LATV
WUNI in hd
WUTF in hd

truTV HD
QVC HD

xfinity 3d ?
ESPN 3d?
bio HD
TCM HD
Travel Channel HD
Cartoon Network HD
Lifetime Movie Network HD
E HD
CNN Headline news HD
Bravo HD
CNBC HD

ESPN News HD
Planet Green HD
Disney XD HD
HDNet

To note LATV is analog but it is also over the air which leads me to believe they kinda had to add it.

I'll look forward to HDNet and CNBC in hd..other than that I think that most are pretty what I already have....

to note it also says
"Qam tuner tv's will continue to receive channels 2-24 (I'm assuming those are local and WGN), 99, 112, 168-169, 292, 294, 296-297

Which turn out to be QVC, TBN and Universal Sports.. I have a feeling some of the others might be the new country station, THIS and the pbs hd work/create/kids
post #7992 of 8474
Most of these minus HD Net, WUNI in HD, and WUTF in HD are already on the system unless Comcast is unveiling them on some new tier package or being added to areas who didn't get them in the 1st or 2nd wave of the conversion.

WGN America and RSNs should be on the High Priority list instead of shifting already added HD's on the system

Have there been rumors of WGBX in HD? I would doubt it since GBX has three subchannels, Create, Kids, and World, which are taking up bandwidth space necessary for HD.
I am receiving WGBX on 818 as of today, 6/29, but it seems to only be in SD. On another TV in the house with a direct cable, it shows up as WGBX SD 44.1. I think this must only be a temporary glitch?

same for me in Manchester NH
we never had wgbx in analog in manchseter
I had it when i lived in salem on ch 16
Fall River also got it today on 818.
WGBX is in HD as of this morning, and HDNet is live. I have to say it took Comcast long enough to add HDNet. I think it's been around for about 10 years, and I think it was one of RCN's first HD channels.
OK so what channel is HDNET MOVIES on?

I assumed they came as a pair if one system has the right to carry HDNET they can also carry HDNET Movies

Besdies I have been with Fios for close to THREE years and Comcast Lawrence is just getting HDNet now.

Anyone else have this problem? Twice in the last two weeks the guide has been wiped out on both my DCX3400 and an older box. The power hasn't been lost in the house since my computer hasn't reset and the clocks aren't blinking. It keeps the series recordings as "To Be Announced" in Scheduled Recordings, but doesn't correct the titles in Scheduled Recordings after the guide has been repopulated and doesn't record the programs. I can watch the series On Demand, but it's a pain. I'm in Newbury. Thanks.
In Boston, WGBX HD is now on 818. No guide info as yet (at least on my TiVO).
And on another note, has anyone heard anything about when/why Boston doesn't have BBCA HD? Some of the programs are On Demand, but with a TiVO, that does me no good, and I understand that you have to sometimes wait days to see them.
In Bill, Comcast dropping WGBX SD from analog tier as of 9/1/11. it will be digital only. will they be doing that with other channels that are still analog like WMFP and other lower rated OTA channels to make room for more HD?
well my days with comcast are over. been tired of waiting for channels that i like that will take years to be added and for the price comcast charge us is ridiculous. so i went for directv a lot cheaper + they are offering the nfl sunday ticket for free even if there is no season it will carry over to the next one. bye comcast

I've been tuning into Channel 847 TWC lHDl the past 2 days and some Xfinity Commercials have been appearing alot lately, i don't know if it has something to do with the Intellistar 2 coming to the Boston Area but i will post any new updates if i see any changes.
Dont get excited. TWC is owned by NBC which is now owned by Comcast, hence the Xfinity Commercials
