Yes, but it will mean I have power cords running across the floor. The balanced power outlets are in the riser in the middle of the room. Are you saying it will not work with the EquiTech?

This is interesting, and brings up a good question. Yannick, how do you recommend we protect the actuators from power issues? I was going to use some Brick Wall surge protectors, but I am curious, are they robust enough to not need surge protection, or is there a better way to do it?

We're up, we're blu and we're moving!

Thanks Yannick!!!

BTW, I watched DejaVu Blu-Ray over the weekend, in my new Quest chairs, and it was fantastic. I highly recommend this movie, especially for the freeway sequence. I really felt like I was in that vehicle.

Safer not to have anything on them... The Actuator control Module is pretty well protected! Plus they require raw AC, no filter or anything.

It's the next one I'll be watching then

Is balanced power (60v, 60v) considered raw A/C? I understand the GFCI is a filter, but I can bypass it for that circuit, which will eliminate the tripping issue. The questions still remain: Why is it tripping? Will the actuators somehow damage the balanced power transformer?

Thanks for your support.

I was out of the office for the last 2 days pretty much and I know Simon help you on this. All I can guess is that the braker is too sensitive. You know when you power up the actuators it creates spikes up to 50A + for a really short period of time (a few milli seconds) but I guess it might be enough for that device.
I haven't talk to Simon since yesterday so I don't know what he found out but I will see with him tomorrow afternoon.

Cheers

My carpeting was installed on Monday, and the platform is finally all set up. I put a piece of 3/4" plywood on top of the extruded aluminum frame, with carpet padding and carpeting on top of the plywood. I secured the plywood to the frame using 44, 8 x 25mm tapered (flush-mount) screws and T-nuts. I have 56 T-nuts left, so if anyone needs some, let me know.

The platform is 94" x 46", and I used a full 96" x 48" sheet of plywood on top, so it overhangs an inch on all sides. They wrapped the carpet around the overhang and secured it with staples. The aluminum frame is exposed on the sides and looks great, IMHO. This is a free-standing plaftorm, not a flush-mount installation.

I mounted the actuator pairs (FL/RL and FR/RR) on 3/4" plywood sheets because they are sitting on top of thick, padded carpeting. Since they are screwed to the plywood, and won't move, actuator access is as easy as lifting the platform frame off the actuators. Of course, this requires two people.

My only concern is that the chairs might move a bit, as they are not too heavy. We will see. If I have to, I can always secure them with screws through the wood feet, but it probably won't be necessary.

I still have the issue of the tripping GFCI to deal with. EquiTech assured me that whatever is tripping the GFCI will not damage the transformer. So, the solution is to bypass the GFCI in the panel (for that one circuit only) by replacing it with a regular outlet.

I am confused, at the motion codes site. I just noticed Kung Fu Hustle codes put up when I swear they were there before. Also, it seems like movies just appear, even if they are not on the upcoming list, and I don't see new releases such as Ghost Rider on that upcoming list. Is it just going to appear, or is it being ignored??

I think this is your only solution! I hope it's not too much of a problem for you!

Send me pictures of your installation I'm curious to see it!

heheh Phil are you High tonight? Just kidding! Kung Fu Hustle is a Bluray release while the DVD has been there for a long time. Ghost Rider is in the Upcoming list.

Have a look again and let me know maybe there is a funky display issue happening...

Yeah, I must be high, I double checked, and it is only SD. I think I assumed it was already out, since I have a Blu-Ray copy, of the movie, and I usually don't buy the Blu-Ray discs, unless the codes are available.

I thought I would post a couple of pics of the platform. It's all black, and it's bitchin'

Looks great Mark... can I ask what gear/equipment you have in your ht, size? Do you have any construction threads?

Thanks for the complement, Gino!

The guts of my gear:

Lexicon MC-12b pre/pro
Classe CAV-180 5-channel amp
Proceed BPA-2 2-channel amp
Mirage Omnipolar speakers (4 OM-7's, 2 OM-5's, OM-C2 center)
Martin Logan Vantage speakers (4), Ascent i (2), Stage center channel
Velodyne DD-15 subs (2 for L/R sub outs of Lexicon)
Bag End Infrasub 18 (LFE)
Vidikron Vision 80 projector
110" 1.78:1 Stewart StudioTek 130 fixed screen

The room is 27'-3" x 20'-10", if memory serves. I am not sure if I am going to deploy the Martin Logan speakers or sell them. The Vantages and Stage are new in the box, the Ascent's are store demo's in excellent condition, but I have no boxes.

I started a construction thread, located here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=731210, but did not have time to update it. Besides, there seemed to be no interest after I said I might use Logan's. I was very happy with the Mirage speakers in my last theater, so am unsure what to do.

Phil some of those Bluray were a little more challenging than the other ones so our guy waited to have a few and did them at the same time... Not too sure what the problem is/was...

Mark it looks great! Glad to see it after all the work you have put in. When are you going to sit down and enjoy it with your little boy cuz I bet he is going to like this... I watched Happy feet with my nephew, he's 5 years old and had seen it a dozen time, in the D-Box and it was a threat to see him having so much fun. But then he wanted to watch Over the edge, The incredibles... Anyhow great job and I can't wait to see more.

Another title you might want to add to the Blu-Ray list, is Hellboy. I just picked this up the other day, and it is reference video, and would be excellent with the codes that you have for the SD version.
I think it's already in the pipeline but I'll make sure! How many titles do you have right now?

How many of you have the LG combo player?

I now have 60 BD titles, and 32 HD-DVD. No LG player.

Is there a particular reason you ask, Yannick?

I have a Pioneer Elite BDP-HD1 and a Toshiba HD-XA2. I was considering the LG until the priced dropped like a rock on the XA2 in April. I paid $520, and you can get it for less than that, now, I think.
I think he is asking, because it is not made by Toshiba, and might be able to work with codes for HD-DVD??

No I know it won't work with HD-DVD. The reason is because we are setting up a show where they are going to have the LG Player and wanted to make sure it was working with the D-Box (we haven't tested each player). I got my answer...

Hey Gino check this out! http://www.cnet.com.au/hometheatre/a...9278027,00.htm

D-Box is coming in your neck of the wood. I'll be around at the end of July for the CEDIA show. The distributor Wavetrain Acoustics is going to have a really nice setup (probably the best one) with 3 of our gaming platform and a full home theatre. It will be an important show for us there and I think with it's going bit a hugh hit.
Yes, local forums are talking about it. Wouldn't mind seeing that gaming platform. Any idea when it will be available to us for purchase? Idea on cost for those of us already with platforms?

The Gaming Platform retails at 12000$ USD.

It would be amazing to see a CMP with the gaming gears... Not as much motion but certainly fun for peope riding with you All you would need is a KAI interface (PC based ) which retails at 1200$. We have R-Factor which is fully compatible and we are looking at Microsoft Flight Sim. soon. Then eventually more and more... consoles and all.

Some food for thoughts.
So this means I only need to purchase the KAI interface and I will be set to play on compatible games?

Yep! that you would connect to your PC and then to your CMP. You could have a switcher so you wouldn't have to plug and unplug the shielded cat 5.
