No doubt mising District 9 for so long was a mistake.

2012 I think will be day and date...

Maybe Quarantine soon as well ?

I'm one of those who doesn't mind at all waiting a month or two or threee for D-Box to get a blockbuster coded.... my dissapoinment is when they simply get passed by altogether... then I see 1972 French connection (great classic) get coded. When I'd bet my fat wallet that a quick poll would indicate that Quarantine would be Much higher on a request list than a albeit, great classsic, like French connection.

Hi Steve,

We understand your concern and the reason why some of those movies are/were coded is because they are day and date.
Please add:
Law Abiding Citizen

Should be a no brainer since this is a new movie. Hopefully this was already thought of well in advance. Then again...

District 9
Monsters vs Aliens
Paranormal Activity
Taking of Pelham 1,2,3
2012
The Hurt Locker
New World Blu Ray: resynch and extended scenes

The deed is done. I have reluctantly listed my system - half hoping it won't sell!!

Any update on District 9? I am planning on watching it this Wednesday, with or without codes.

It has been about two weeks since any new codes have been released.
District 9 is a good movie - saw it already. If you have the patience, I think the codes would add a lot to it! Kind of like Cloverfield only way better - just my humble opinion, of course.

French Connection was coded a long time ago. Maybe that was just resynched for BluRay? I know in the early days, they were scrambling to find some titles to code for a decent library of great titles and there was also the concern of having a good selection for each genre and showing a broad spectrum of films that could be enhanced. Much in that vein, one could see how a 50th action film wouldn't be as desirable as a first children's animated film or maybe a 3rd horror film.

Unfortunately, with the large numbers of new releases, it doesn't pay as well to really go back and do a lot of the classics.

Exactly... District 9 is way too delayed as an example. There is an entire slew of new releases we are always waiting on... Hurt Locker is another supposed great new film which will win many academy awards... This is one that I'm sure people would have appreciated the codes and watching it before the OSCARS, but I doubt this will be coded anytime soon for some reason.

There is quite a list of great new movies which are most important to get coded ASAP....

Ice Age 3 just released, which means P123, and then District 9 next. Anyone know if 2012 is going to be D&D?

I think 2012 is Day and date since they already coded it for the theaters a while back. It was one of the ones they actually did for the commercial theaters.

I've been hearing great things about law abiding citizen... I hope this doesn't take 3 months or more to code... then again, how long has it been since District 9 was released on Blu Ray, and were all asking about that one way before release on Blu Ray.

I told you guys it would be...

Excellent looking transfer on the 16 foot wide dci, too.

Since 2012 was coded for commercial theaters, it was released day and date as expected. I saw it last night and the D-Box codes made that movie come alive... Talk about a movie made for D-Box!

Unfortunately, on the coming soon section there is no mention of:

Law Abiding Citizen
Paranormal Activity
The Hurt Locker

These 3 movies are bread and butter new movies, all of which are supposed to be very good. The Hurt Locker is going to win a bunch of Oscars, and this movie should have been coded already or be coded before the OSCARS. People want to watch this movie BEFORE the OSCARS.

Those three movies should be coded before a few of the ones mentioned on the coming soon list, like Apollo 13. It was a great movie 10 years ago... Let's keep up with the current releases.

Apparently Avatar is coming out in the end of April on Blu Ray. I'm waiting for Blu Ray and D-Box and forgoing the commercial theaters.

By the way, I've been hanging out in Hollywood the past few weekends ad going again this weekend. Will probably watch a movie in the MANN theater and also the ARCLIGHT theater. Apparently, the Arclight theater has the best acoustics and is considered the best commercial theater in the world. Of course, I really don't care much for commercial theaters. I might go see Avatar this weekend in the ARCLIGHT, not sure. If I have to use 3D glasses, I won't go. I'm not into movies that preferrentially feed each eye different info. I think I'll jump on board with 3D when they do holograms or something... not likely in our lifetime.

It is a sad time for me everyone. I have so enjoyed being a part of the D-Box user community. It looks like my system has found a buyer and will be leaving me next week. I WILL have D-Box again someday. In the meantime, I'll just have to live the motion control lifestyle vicariously through all of you folks here. Cherish the codes, guys! Cherish them

Hi everybody, it looks like i have secured the seats and d-box system that chris is selling, cheers Chris!

I can't wait to join the d-box club, hopefully in a few weeks i will be sitting enjoying the full on d-box experience....WOO HOO!!!!

1st of all i would just like to say that from reading this thread and from previous pm's the support d-box give through Yannick on here is absolutely amazing. Yannick always seems to be listening to the people on here, and this customer service is a blessing to see from a company especially in these times. cheers for your time yannick.

well...before i even have this system i have a few questions for you all. i have read a lot of the thread, but its massive so sorry if some of these have already been answered.

just wondering if anyone had any experience with the simultaneous output of lossless hd audio from hdmi and legacy dd/dts from optical for the sony bdp-s550 at all? i know other sony's are ok with this but not had a concrete answer on this, as i may need to get a new bluray player in anticipation of the d-box system. if i do get one i would prob get the oppo83 as it seems to be good.

also, i am thinking of getting the cx700es sony bluray changer and was wondering the same thing about the audio, as this would be a major reason to not buy it if it couldn't output legacy audio to work with d-box as well as listen to hd lossless through the hdmi.

sorry for the questions, just want to be sorted for when it all arrives here in the UK!

cheers in advance guys, and cheers to chris for selling this to me. hope you don't miss it too much once its shipped out etc. its going to a good home.

Thanks!

Ash

Ash,

The sony changer does not seem to work with d-box and simultaneous True HD.

A better solution is a Dune Base Player connected to a Windows Home Server. That works very well.

hi, thanks for letting me know about the sony changer, looks like i will be giving it a miss then.

anyone know about the sony s550 single disc bluray player?

i don't know if i want to go down the dune hd route just yet. i prefer disc based systems at the moment until i can sort out my ever changing/crashing/amazing/annoying/constantly in need of updating HTPC!

unless you mean that the bluray changer is connected to the windows server via rs232 and the dune hd thingy accesses it and can therefore be a psuedo escient-ish system? if thats the case then we may be onto a winner as i could probably sort something out with that if it works easily enough for the other half to be able to use etc.

on another note....as my favourite films include the original star wars trilogy, and the lord of the rings, what do people think of the motion coding for these films then? might be one of the first films i use to try out my new system.

Aaaaaaaaaannnnndddddd one more thing, anyone from the UK here? just thought about connecting my SKY HD sat box to the d-box and thought it should work with the movie channels as the box outputs DD over optical? anyone tried it and does it sync ok? would be cool to have d-box with sky movies working.

sorry for all the questions, hope someone can help!

cheers!

Ash, not sure if you're into 3D or not, but you should wait a few months on a new BD player and get one that is 3D capable. Then, when you're ready to get a 3D TV, you'll have D-BOX AND 3D. It doesn't get any more immersing than that. Instead of buying a new BD player now, just use the lossy tracks for a little while until you get that 3D capable BD player.

That's what I'd do. I know it sucks not being able to have both at the same time. I'm still upset that a LOT of my collection has PCM tracks. D-BOX doesn't understand PCM tracks. STILL!

Hi mate, cheers for the info and advice. well i have emailed d-box and they report they don't know if it will work as no-one reported to them it will so i will have to wait until i get the controller and try it for myself, unless someone else knows if it works.

if it doesn't i don't think i will be waiting for 3D players as i will need a new display and def not going there until it is a well established format. i don't currently see the point as yet in home 3d really as there are only a few films in the format for what will be a massive outlay to see them. and don't get me started on the need for glasses etc, especially for when people come round. i think it is great for the cinema, and will be good for cinemas worldwide economy wise and hopefully will pull more people in to see films at the cinema, but i don't think it will take off, in the uk at the least. the general public have just about got round to accepting the need to pay for HD let alone to need to buy a new tv and player for 3D!

thanks again for the info though. i understand your annoyance at pcm tracks, it would bug me too!

cheers!

I can't seem to update my 340C controller. I've tried troubleshooting with D-box support, but their suggestions have not worked out (including updating the firmware to the latest version).

Basically, I'm getting an error that "update failed no upd sources found please review logs" (UPDATE: now I'm getting a "Bad Parameters" message instead)

Can anyone with a 340C controller hook up a monitor and mouse to their box, go into the Windows Control Panel, then Network Connections, right-click on properties, select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and tell me if your box is set to "Obtain IP automatically" and if the primary DNS server is specified as 192.168.1.1?

If I change the default setting to "Obtain DNS... automatically" I can actually access the internet on my unit, but then when I try to force an update I get a message "Bad Parameters 100%." If I change the DNS to 192.168.0.1 (which is my router's DNS), I also get the "Bad Parameters 100%" message.

Since the 340C is obviously accessing the internet when I set it obtain DNS automatically in Windows, I don't think the network card is bad. I'm thinking that there's a wrong setting in Windows or on the unit. Btw, on the unit itself, I have all of the network options set to obtain their info from DHCP.

UPDATE: I just checked my router's log and I can definitely tell my unit is reaching out to the DBox server when I try to force an update (after changing the DNS to be obtained automatically). However, I'm still getting the "Bad Parameters 100%" error. Has anyone seen this particular error before?

Any help someone can provide would be great appreciated.

Problem solved! D-Box tech support got me up and running this morning. A little work on my end, a little work on theirs, and now I'm happily downloading updates. I can't wait to use my D-Box controller and seats for the first time. Thanks D-Box!

I second this List as being about perfect as the top dozen or so to be done soon. like put on a official list now.
As soon as I see a few on that list, I'll anti up for my renewal. Exp last week.
Yannick is great, and he is here to get feedback, he listens.. but the people at D-Box need to listen to him.
I own a hockey sports store, and If I don't give my customers exactly what they want... I have store no more.. (perhaps a poor comparison). But we need to feel like we are not simply tolerated as just noise.
Customers who were once so excited, to enjoy a new and great technology in home entertainment... now less than thrilled, and selling off there gear.
