I did the same thing, but I had to re download the codes because my SSD was too small to copy the files back over.

I m keeping mine on a external 3,5'' 2TB drive. When I do a full format of my windows system (which I do a lot smile.gif) it s just click in the external drive and good to go. Also remember that when you reinstall you MCI software you need both you MCI decoder serial and code from D-Box you receives when you bought your licence.
Yep, I had to dig to find my CD. I since then used my lable printer to add this to the back of my HTPC than runs my D-BOX controller.

Hmmm, so, if I were to move it too an external hard drive now, could I do that? Or would I have to reinstall the software onto the external hard drive first? I guess I'm not digging what you're laying down. tongue.gif

When you install, you tell the software where you want the codes. Point it to your external.

1000th Film!!

By my calculation (could be wrong) D-Box is at 995 including everything announced so far and the currently working list. (TV shows excluded and Imax movies included.) What will #1000 be?

So I'm nearing the finish line of my theater construction and finally have my seats on top of the D-Box platform and working.

How would I play Bolt on BluRay through ArcSoftTMT? I tried changing the Audio settings in ArcSoft to Dolby Digital Mixing as well as DTS without luck. Sorry for the newbie question.
Are you looking to keep Lossless HD audio as well?

Eventually, but at this point, I'm just wondering if there's a setting I need to make to have the PC3 Controller recognize the audio stream. Just trying to get up and running quickly for the kids. It's odd too given the D-Box codes are on the BluRay itself...I'm assuming if I have a PC based controller, there's no way to extract the codes...even though I already have a subscription.

I didn't have luck with smooth playback using MPC-HC which may be due to the ION based HTPC I have. I'll probably have to build a higher powered one to support it. AFAIK, that's the only way I'll be able to have lossless HD audio...correct?

You have to have a BD-ROM drive if you want to extract the codes from the discs.

To use a HTPC with D-Box and keep HD-Audio, use Germain's guide here:

http://htpcfordbox.over-blog.com/

The PC controller should not need to be that powerful. Most of the older standalone controllers are very dated low power PCs themselves. To pull the codes off the BD, you need a BD-ROM player installed on your PC that is connected to your controller. When you run the update, you have a choice to download from D-Box servers only or check BD-Rom as well. One more tip, though it sounds like it is too late. Don't start your sub until your ready to go. Good luck, hope this helps some.

Thanks. It looks like I found them in one of the folders.

Okay. I'll have to give it another shot. I ordered an external USB sound card to do some testing.

BTW, I figured out why the D-box wasn't working, the audio in ArcSoftTMT has to be set to Original Primary; however, I can't use this setting because alot of the movies are creating a DTS-BOMB explosion type sound during parts of certain movies. I believe this is a bug in ArcSoft.

So hopefully I can get MPC-HC working smoothly.

As cool as a HTPC is, it may be easier to just pick up a BD player that will output HDMI and lossy audio via coax or optical like the Oppos. Less setup headaches and maintenance.

Please, we want codes for HD-DVD too.
HD-DVD? Yeah...and how about codes for my Betamax tapes as well?wink.gif

Have you tried any? I don't have the setup right now to output it but I was under the impression that HDDVD was supported just not listed in the databases. Or maybe I did see some there can't remember.

Anyway the main point of my post is that most of the titles I bought dirt cheap on HDDVD thinking I would miss out on that pricing are now just as cheap or cheaper on BluRay. Less than $10 many times and maybe $5 or lower.

So since Oppo doesn't support HDDVD, and that has been a rock solid setup for DBOX, I'm not as interested in that support as I was initially...

It never worked with HD-DVD and would be a waste of money for them to try further. I find many BDs at really low prices ($5-$10 new and lower used) so HD-DVD has little value. Maybe value for some folks for the few releases that have not hit BD yet. I sold my HD-DVD player and have never looked back.

There have been a LOT of people asking for me to post a video of my D-Box seating with the Back to the Future: The Ride video from the BTTF BD Box Set. Here you go:

Yes, thanks for sharing and reminding me to try that out. I had forgotten about it. That is some fairly weak motion coding there considering it is a "ride".

This site is outdated and not used by Germain anymore. You can find the latest MPC-HC Dboite version here http://en.sourceforge.jp/projects/sfnet_mpc-hc-dboite/ and the latest LAV Filters DBoite version here http://sourceforge.net/projects/lavfltrsdboite/files/.

Germain again has 'left the building' smile.gif since these updates from already a few months back. There have been some big improvements in latest official MPC-HC and LAV Filters versions so I m trying to get in contact with Germain to ask if he can make new version but I cannot reach him anymore for some months now. I hope I can get incontact with him again and get the source codes for his versions so I can look for someone who can make new versions in the future as 'backup' for Germain.

You are absolutely right that a stand-alone player works much easier then a HTPC but WHEN you do get to accomplish a stable running HTPC with MPC-HC/LAV Filters and madVR as renderer a standalone player CANNOT compete with it in any way when looking at picture quality (sound quality will be the exact same on a standalone player).

Well, looking back there were a few "fillers" like Shrek 3D and the Bionicle movies. Still was close wink.gif
