I would check with a local electrician. I am not comfortable answering this. Also, I don't want to call anyone out on this, if they want, they can PM you.

No, it is not easy, but it can be done. Some seating can even be designed to cover the SRP so no modification is needed to the unit. There really are a lot of different options.

CE Certification means that a unit has been tested to meet certain safety standards (electric shock, fire risk, etc.). The requirements are different from North American UL testing, but essentially it's the same type of testing.

If it's not CE certified it just means that there may be liability issues with distributing, selling, and using the unit in Europe.

CE does not have anything to do with voltage requirements or whether the unit will work in a particular location or not.

Did you know that:

- D-Box released exactly 885 movies until today (03th may 2013) on Blu-Ray format
- D-Box just release the first two 2013 cinema release date movies (Gangster Squad and Zero Dark Thirty)
Anyone check out Zero Dark Thirty yet? I am wondering if I get a non rental version if it will sync.

I'm pretty sure I tried the retail Zero Dark Thirty and it didn't work. Maybe I forgot to post. I will try to remember to double check that this weekend.

Thank you Matt.

Nothing on the retail disc either.
Thank you for comfirming this. May be a while before I ship to them again, plus I don't own this one, so hmm.
I will add this to my list of ones to send them. I have some actuators I need to send in for reprogramming and I'm going to try to do it all at once, so it will probably be in the next 1-2 months.

Awsome, thanks.

Jack Reacher codes are out. Cloud Atlas added to working on list.
Jack Reacher was a good movie and the codes were well done. Hope others enjoy as well.

My IV-BD controller suddenly stopped working recently. It would not boot up past the first message on the LCD - " System Offline – Press Power to Start – Startup may take a few minutes-"

I saw some information on this thread about DIY repairs of blown capacitors, but I don't see any of those on my board. D-Box wants $900 plus shipping to fix it. That seems a lot for $100 of 5 year old computer components.

Does anyone have any suggestions for or experience in resurrecting this particular unit?

Thanks!

Hi DJPS,

while I have fixed a number of 340c controllers, no Series IV has given up on me so far...

I would start investigating the problem by connecting a monitor and a USB keyboard and mouse to the controller and see if anything shows up there. After all, the stand alone controllers are "just" Windows XP (embedded) PCs... So you have the typical problems of PCs... empty CMOS batteries, harddisk problems and other hickups... ;-)

If it should turn out to be a hardware problem that makes a change of the motherboard necessary, replacing it with a different model should be possible. I did this with a 340c controller that I modded.

Good luck!

Has anybody written any kind of script to allow the PC controller to auto-sync the new codes? Perhaps a batch that runs at midnight each night checking the server for new codes, automatically downloading and installing them?

That would be fantastic. The negative side of the PC controller is having to do those server updates manually each time. frown.gif

That is on my to do list of things I want to work on. I am going to have it email me what it update as well. No ETA as when I will have time.

Last Stand codes are out. FYI, Red Box has DTS-MA 5.1 vs the retail disc that has DTS-MA 7.1 so of course, D-Box does not sync. Thanks Lion's Gate:rolleyes:
Do all movie studios do this?
No, even Lionsgate does not do it every time. I have a Movie Trading Co near me and the rent out Retail discs so I just go there. Few extra buts, but worth it for D-Box. smile.gif

Is there already a way to connect a PC to the MCI and a receiver so that I would have:

1) Motion from the Dbox
2) Sound from my receiver

I really want to use my PC to watch movies through XBMC , but it seems for now it's still not possible to have a PC to dual output sound simultaneous.

Any ideas/hacks?

I know several folks here use Jaymar or have tried them, often love seats so I am not sure if they are about the same. D-Box used to sell Jaymar seating under the D-Box brand. You may also seek feedback under the seating forum. From what I understand, they are built really well, but some find them uncomfortable. Most will recommend you try before you buy as everyone has different taste in seating.

I have not set this up before, but I am under the impression you can use Windows Media Player Classic as the default player for XBMC. With this you can use the custom LAV filters listed a page or 2 back and get both HD audio and D-Box from a HTPC and this setup. This will require some work on your end but it should work for what you are looking to do.

After looking through DBOX's seating partners i found Jaymar's seating to be the cheapest,
As Cineak and Fortress are offering expensive prices i have chosen Jaymar.

Jaymar does not have a UK Dealer, but i found a website called Stargate Cinema that ships to the UK.
Has anyone used Stargate Cinema before or heard of them?

I Haven't found anything suspicious, i am just wondering before i make a expensive purchase.

Thanks

Jaymar is not the cheapest.

I'd contact D-Box and see who they recommend over there. Shipping will drive that price way up. But the feedback on stargate has been positive but I haven't seen tons of it. I'd think there are more affordable options. Are you set on using a seating partner? The motion platform in a nicely made European chair or loveseat might be a bigger savings.

On a side note..my chairs were made in Germany. I'm sure I paid a premium for the import to the US.
