Monoprice 5X1 HDMI Switch

Got mine today. I had read that on some, maybe all, the PS3 only works only on port 5. It is true of mine. Tried port 1 and no go. So now my Toshiba A2 is on port 2, another DVD on port 3 and DVR cable box is on port 4 with PS3 on 5. One port left open, I'll find something. I will say this, for $90+ dollars you cannot beat it. Remote works flawlessly.

Why would the PS3 only work on port 5? Weird.

Weird, my switcher works with the PS3 fine on port 2. What are the symptoms if your not plugged into port 5?

It depends on the HDMI receiver in the display also. For some displays, PS3 will work on all ports. For other displays, it may only work on port 5. There have been reports of 1 or 2 displays where it would not work at all.

I spoke a little too quickly. On the PS3 forum quite a few people had trouble with this switch and it seems, according to them, the PS3 would only work on port 5. Plugged everything up with PS 3 to port 5 and all was well. Moved it over to port 1 and nothing. Tried port 1 with the A2 and it worked. Just shifted the SD DVD to port 2, cable to port 3 and decided why not try the PS3 on port 4. It worked. Don't really know why. I double check all connections with PS3 on port 1, but nothing. So as usual, I am clueless. Important this is that everything works. I think maybe the hdmi on the PS 3 is a little quirky because lots and lots of people had HDMI problems with PS3, according to the PS3 forum.

I've got the PS3 on port 1 and it works. HDMI seems to have all sorts of weird glitches.

The switch has 2 x TI HDMI switching chips. Port 4/5 go through 1 chip. Port 1/2/3 are cascaded so they go through 2 switching chips.

Some HDMI receivers are more picky and don't like the cascaded switching chips, while other HDMI receivers are fine with it.

I have my PS3 on port #2 and it seems to work just fine at this time. I got my 5 way Monoprice switch last Friday. So for the first week things seem to be just fine.
