Plasma friendly Xbox360 games

I'm looking for xbox 360 games that I can play worry free of possibly IR issues (ie. have no permanent HUD) while I'm breaking in my new Pioneer 5070 plasma.

So far, the list includes: Tomb Raider, Fight Night Round 3, and PGR 3 (with the patch.) Some would say Gears of War should be on the list too.

If you know of others (does King Kong - which is cheap now - have a HUD?)... pop over to this thread in the plasma tv forum and add to the list.

Thanks!

Gears most certainly shouldn't be on the list, it has a bright white HUD along with lots of dark environments. It is a great game though so I recommend getting it anyway yourself to play or watch something else in between increasingly longer gaming sessions as your break your display in, and that goes for any other game you might care for that isn't "plasma friendly" as well, image retention is simple to correct so there is hardly any reason to let it dictate your gaming selection.

dont really worry after it is broke in you are just fine if it burns in it goes away in a couple of days

I got a friend with a 50" Pioneer Plasma 1080p and using the PC on it there was a small burn from the start bar after 2 days of playing full screen full color video it is totally gone

burn in is a thing of the past for Plasmas they are in their 6th or 7th gen by now and have those problems sorta figured out some Plasmas even have a feature in the service menu that will play all sorts of colors that "work out" the screen and "clean" it

Doesn't the hud disappear at times during gameplay?

gears hud is horrible. Pure white and mostly black backgrounds. You will get image retention ( which is NOT burn in) from the hud. MY plasma only had a few 100 hours on it when I was playing GOW and I noticed the image retention. Yes, the hud goes away at times, but it is there everytime you reload, which is a lot.

I have a panny plasma. Good news is, even after finishing gow 4 times. No image burn on mine at all. The image retention goes away after a few hours of watching something else.

I'm trying to remember now what games have no huds. I know EA's nhl07 is great as you can turn off the timer.

Retention fades with other usage. I've played hours and hours of ZUma and Astropop and my plasma is just fine.

This was my finding too after doing a lot of research before deciding on a plasma. I still wouldn't leave an image paused for 20 hours, but I've played Gears and such for 6+ hours and more and my plasma is fine.

Just stay AWAY from Madden 07 and NCAA College Football 07!!! That EA logo stayed on my set for a very long time. It took many hours of Discovery HD and Service Menu White Wash to get rid of the retention. I didn't even play that much either. I am not sure why but that ticker is the worst. I have played hours of Lost Planet and even though that has several "HUDs" I only had minor retention.

Heck, even the ESPN HD and FOX HD logos aren't as offensive as the EA logo.

I agree, I have a Pioneer 4360 and I noticed IR with GoW but even after a 8 hour session it went away...took awhile but its gone. Having to vary my gaming because of my tv will not happen much longer, Im going to buy a LCD very soon.

Guys - what I'm trying to come up with here is a list of games that are compatible with the viewing recommendations normally associated with a plasma break-in period.

I've noticed that for every person who feels strongly that plasma break-in is necessary, there seems to be another that feels equally strongly that its not. If you want to debate this, please find another thread.

This thread is for those people that would like to perform a break-in, and would like a list of games that they can play without feeling stress that they are risking IR or burn-in.

Plasma break in means playing with the settings tuned way down. I turned down the settings and played whatever I wanted for as long as I wanted and had no problems with burn in. Retention--sure, but as I've said before---it fades quickly with other usage.

Did you buy a cheap plasma or a good one?

I think the general concensus is this:

Plasmas all get image retention, but few get permanant burn-in these days.

Still, I would never spend big bucks on a display and have to "deal" with image retention even for a day or so, ruining everything else I watched? Thats just beyond stupid. Then every time you play the game you make the problem worse...

There is no risk to IR. It is well known. Yes, you should still break it in as a good practice but you don't have to avoid HUDs to do so. If you go to the master burn-in thread there are many ways described to run through your break-in 100 hours very quickly without altering your usage of the display. For example, you can run a full-screen DVD on loop over night while you sleep and during the day while you are at work. That should get you through the 100 hours in about 3-4 days. During 'prime time' on those days just use your display as you normally would - HUDs and all. The DVD loop on the following night will erase any IR that may have occurred during the previous day's regular usage. If you think there is no consensus on plasma IR then you need to re-read the master burn in thread and don't bother with any posts from 2 or more years ago; that info is way out of date.

I still have that damn ea logo and i havent played the game in a few months! I can only see it in a dark room w/ a black screen input from a foot away from the screen though...

gears always leaves ir on my plasma but it takes forever to get rid of it. i play it in cinema mode now and it is much much better. its still there (using the black screen test described above) but its much less obvious. I used to be able to see the chainsaw links

mine never shows up under normal viewing circumstances. It is only visible when all the lights are out and you have a black screen and your standing a foot or less away. at least you can tell when its starting to get to the point where you need to stop playing for awhile or watch more tv.

Using a Vizio 42" plasma, I got pretty bad image retention playing Lumines for about 2 hours. It's the first time anything like that has ever happened to me and I've had the screen for almost 1 year now. It was really disconcerting to see all these little blocks on my screen. It all went away after about an hour of regular tv watching.

Hell I feel asleep two nights ago watching a movie and the dvd menu screen had to have been on there for at least 5 straight hours.I had image retention that a couple hours of tv watching eliminated entirely.I've only had the plasma since late November '06.
