I'm really pleasently surprised. I didn't expect it to be as smooth, and have the amount of content it does.

I was one of the people initially regarding it as a worthless bulletpoint addition, but I think I'm changing my tune now, I can see myself reading stories on their from time to time. It's surprisingly easy to read considering the low resolution of the screen.

Also, I love the text zoom options, and how the words fly around, small point, but nicely done to not be annoying.

good addition++

Saw my Wii's slot glowing blue so I knew something was up. News channel is great. Was scheduled to hit Saturday but early is better.

How 'kid freindly' is the news channel?
is it Nintendo/gaming news or like world news?

Doctor, it's all AP news articles, not exactly for kids, it's mostly political/technological, but as others have said, it's broken up into categories when you first go in.

"Kids news" wasn't one of them though iirc

The slideshow mode is GREAT!

It's making my Wii crash and burn.

Every time I've tried to start it, total system lock up, to the point that the power button doesn't even respond, it needs to be unplugged and plugged back in.

I'm theorizing right now it's just channel traffic levels. If not, boourns from me on this fabulous feature.

Thanks. Since my kids use it a lot I would rather not activate it unless they can but I don't think they really bother with it.

Immediately following my download, there was a notification screen telling me that the News Channel was now on my machine and that I could use Parental Controls. Perhaps there is already an easy method to allow you to control access....

Yes. In the settings menu there is an option for creating a partental password. It'll be the same password you use to access the shopping channel and the internet with the Wii.

Haha, I can't believe you said "boourns". You're awesome.

I'm curious.. do I want to know what it means?

News Channel is better than the Weather Channel. It's pretty accurate for NJ, but with the delay in forcasting, plus no local radar...why bother with it.

Cool idea, however.
