And why would you pay $499 when you can get 360 addon for $160 after coupon? (although I've heard they don't respect their $40 coupons anymore so it is $199). Still $299 difference, almost good for A1.

360 addon can be installed internally with 2.5 to 3.5 $5 IDE adaptor from eBay.

People have done it and succeeded.

Wow this thing will be discontinued quickly at that price point. Why not just buy a set top unit for that money or save some cash and get HTPC flexibility, and get the 360 add-on?

Way to go HP...idiots

And I still suspect that one would have to rip the HD-DVDs and remove the protection to watch them on a computer.

Should have been a burner at that price MS spoiled the add on market ....I bet HP has more than a few @#$%^&* words for Bill

It still does not justify the price but remember the HP includes the HP customized version of Power Ultra DVD.. supposedly it is solid. So it is in facts is a $200 difference not a $299 difference and if the software works properly than the difference in value really narrows.
