Having been a fanboy and believer in Audyssey for 6 years I've now gone to rehab for my additction
The rehab in my case happen to be named NuForce AVP-18 and MCH-300SEC7. Pure, unaltered signal. No EQ whatsoever. Never have I heard such utter transparency or spatiality in my home theater. Never have I experienced such sound stage dimensionality. It's as if my speakers 'breath' now. Can hardly believe what I'm hearing sometimes. Never thought I could do without Dynamic EQ, in particular, due to how engrossing it made movie sound. It seemed an absolute necessity with receivers, and having gone through quite a few I had no doubts about that. Now I realise that truly capable electronics that match well with your speakers and a little attention to the room and speaker placements will do things EQ trickery never could. Two months ago I would not have believed that. Audyssey can without doubt produce impressive results in tricky situations, for sure, and for many it's a good solution. For me now though, being EQ-liberated has opened my eyes (ears) in a way I didn't think would happen. I'm hearing my speaker system in a way I never have.
Sorry I don't have much to contribute with, just had to get this off my chest haha Cheers everyone!
Nice! Not bad at that price point. What XT32 did for my sound was pretty amazing IMO, this was after 2 months of setting my pre/pro manually.
