Next Gen Ipods?

Can anyone tell me according to Apple's release history, when they'll be due to release a new generation of Ipod's?

I'm eyeing the 30 GB models to be used in conjuction with my soon to be purchased AVR-4306... I don't need to buy one immediately but would be disappointed if I purchased one and they they release a new model a few months later....

Thanks.

I assume the anouncement won't relate to the new iPhone because that cat is already out of the bag....

They are over due for a new iPod. They came out with the 5.5G iPod a couple of months ago, and some people call that it, but I seriously doubt it. I expect that sometime within the next year, Apple will announce a full screen touch controlled iPod with up to 120GB of storage minimum (In conjunction with 720p movie downloads from iTunes).

Regardless of whether or not I'm right, the 30GB iPod as it is now has been out for over a year. Anybody will tell you that the time to buy an iPod is the moment a new one gets released. More than 8 months after that, and you likely won't get your money's worth before being obsolete.

I heard something about a widescreen iPod...kind of makes sense - gotta stay competitive with the Zune and the other Portable AVs...

I would say to not be an early adopter, there's bound to be bugs and/or tweaking needed...

plus you know they're not going to let all the R&D they did for the iphone interface stay on just that device. They probably weren't allowed to or just didn't want to announce the 6g ipod within a certain timeframe of the iphone. They also announced the macintosh computer during the superbowl way back in 1984.

My bet is on a fullscreen ipod ala iphone without the phone. wouldn't be surprised if they offer a 120gb model.

I might have to actually break down and get one if they do. I just hate itunes.

Nice guess! or logical thinking one. I can't wait for the Superbowl to see if you are right. I am going to New Mexico in March and my next project is to save up enough and get an IPod. I hope you are right and I can afford it!

what a dissapointment! I read about it at Gizmodo.com, which has a pretty good track record on these things.

I did notice a trio of local commercials right around the halftime mark, making me wonder if the national schedule had some last minute changes to the commercial line-up, but that's probablly just wishful thinking

I need new iPod info! :[

I'd like to buy the 80gb but I'm worried a 100gb or 120gb will come.

I've got the 60gb now and have 3gbs left. I still like to add sevral movies.

but at 349.00 80g ain't bad if new ones are larger so will price and then some.

I am currently on the fence right now. My 4 gen 40gb is biting the dust and the 30gb is not big enough already. I know the 80gb will suffice and has gotten some of the best reviews of all the Ipods yet, but I can't help but wonder whats around the corner!

if any thing is new it probably will not be talked about till
april apples birthday or june with adc.

Well the bug bit me and I just partially filled my new 80gb Black Videopod!
I am really impressed with each model I have had (3G,4G).

I wouldn't expect anything until the September-October timeframe, well after the iPhone has been out a while.

As for the features, it would be cool to see a widescreen unit with the multi-touch UI, like the iPhone.

What do you mean no next Ipod?

highly doubtful that the 30 and 80 gig Ipods were the 'last release'....

if anything they will probably offer larger drives since everything is in a race for storage.
