Thanks grant,

I see there's a location in my hometown. I don't have a membership at that particular location and it's a bugger to find parking in that area but it might be worth a visit.

I've already started to rent in Burlington. But they have a very limited selection-about a dozen movies only so far.

You don't need to have a membership at that location. I rent from different blockbusters all the time. The first time you go though, they will call your home store blockbuster (whichever the card is registered) to see if you have any outstanding balance or something like that maybe...i dunno, but then everytime after that its no hassle.

Okay, thanks! I guess I'll give it a try.

I rented an HD DVD at Blockbuster in Toronto. Their selection totally sucks.

Blockbuster Canada - you suck. Get with it nationally.

I agree Blockbuster suck by not releasing Nationally. No one in my area rents HD DVD at this time. Was hoping other AVS member in Canada would posts rental locations to this list, helping other members locate a shop.....thanks Grant

I traded in a bunch of DVD's at the Burlington location last week. I had taken about 15 movies over to "The Beat Goes On" on Fairview, they offered me $43 cash and $53 trade, I didn't like that amount much, seeing as my purpose for trading was HD-DVD's I went over the Blockbuster on Victoria and they have a $5 minimum on trade-ins right now. I got $82.50 in trade-in!

Picked up Pitch Black for $27.99, considered a few others but their retail prices on their limited selection is on the high side, so I'll wait for a title I really want before burning the rest of my credit.

"The Beat Goes On" had no HD-DVD's in stock, they did have a couple of Blu-Rays, when they do have them they are fairly priced if the condition is good, I believe he said their average price was $21.99 when they do come in.

So i guess they really haven't gotten any of the newer movies for sale yet at BlockBuster i guess. I traded in soem movies and upgraded to the HD-DVD of V for Vendetta (well worth it) I have tried The Beat Goes On and they only had BackDraft in about 2 weeks ago. The great thing is they have the website up and some HD-DVD movies are in there and they all do seem to be $21.99 and add an extra dollar for them to ship it into the store fr you to pick up. Tried to get Accepted 2 weeks ago but someone bought it that day form the Hamilton location and they canceled my shipment of the movie. $23 would of been great, but you can make a wishlist that will notify you when a movie is in stock to buy on HD-DVD.

Just got back from Blockbuster at Taunton and Ritson in Oshawa, had about 10 HD DVDs for rent and maybe 15 or 20 of the other HD format...

Enjoy

PS...Just checked the Blockbuster.ca website, and they have added 50 new stores where HD discs are available

And although I live in Toronto, none are near me (Scarborough). I'll just buy from amazon, instead of going out of my way, to find less selection than my own shelf.

Waterloo, Ontario has a Jumbo Video location on the corner of Columbia and Fischer Hallman that rents HD DVD movies.

...and across the street (well, up the street and to the right, beside Burger King) is DVDWave if you want to purchase stuff... not the cheapest, to be sure, but good people.

And, yeah, Queen Video rents, as far back as last October... I rented my first titles when I "borrowed" my A1 for review back then, and, after watching Unforgiven, decided to keep the player...

Seems like ages ago!
