Well ... at least for the visual side of things.

I wish I had my camera here for you guys ... this is a thing of beauty. Earlier today I completed the 53x126 Hi-Power and hung her up. She is a thing of beauty (to me at least) 5" triple black velvet borders.

After everything got all fired up ... I did a quick zoom, focus, lens shift and it was good to go.

I fired up the cable box to search for some HD content to enjoy it for a bit ... and lo and behold ... HDNET was showing The Fastest Indian on 2.35:1 ... amazing .... I rushed to put the ISCO in place and sat back for the show.

Never before in my HT "life" have I sat down and truly felt the cinematic experience as good as this in my own home. For once in my life, the sound played second fiddle to the video (and that's saying a lot for me).

Hiding the wires, projector, etc and other misc. task are still ahead ... but I am one happy man for tonight. Thanks to all the guys that compiled all the great information here for everyone .... you convinced me to try it, and I ain't never going back!

Good night guys!
Jim

ps - I'll get pics up on Monday night .... all I have here are some extra cameras with no memory card (left the case at work with all the goods).

Good man Jim. Good thing you kept it and set it up up. ENJOY!

Be ready to stand your ground when she comes back. Make sure to show her how nice the picture looks

Here we go

Plateau SR-75V is on backorder, but will be sitting nice and centered under the screen...so don't mind the wires for now.

The projector stand is still under construction, so mind the towel/broken computer/mixing table/stand that its on for now

Looks unbelievable Jim!

Quick questions - What is the size of your room/screen?

How is the wall paint color with viewing? Our living room is almost the exact same hue, so I'm curious.

Thanks!

Room is 19' x 44' (opens to the kitchen/dining area). Sceen is ~140" 2.37:1 seated at 15' and then at ~19ft (second set of Poang chairs aren't in yet)

The walls really are invisible to me so far (I'm still in lala land with the picture) ... I'll look around tonight and see how they are.

Ours is a measly 15' (really 13' L) x 11'.

We just did our taxes and are getting quite a bit more back than expected, so it has opened up some nicer possibilities. I guess my procrastination finally paid off for once.

Here's a quick update.

I got the equipment rack last night ... aside from having to assemble it myself, I am VERY pleased with it. It is solid oak, brushed aluminum and glass ... I have a lot more work to do hiding wires and then attaching the cabinet backing, but I got a lot done last night.

Sadly, ha, I had to quit to watch HDNET's 2.35:1 showing of Days of Thunder last night. I did a quick photoshop overlay of the picture w/ and w/o flash.

Enjoy

Honestly, I really can't see the wall paint at all ... the only distraction is the eggshell white ceiling ... it has a little too much reflection for my tastes. I wouldn't change the walls at all (like I even could, ha! )

Thanks for the opinion Jim. Makes me feel much better, especially since I have officially taken the first step today towards CIH.

I too have an eggshell white ceiling. Hmm...Maybe I can talk the wife into re-painting it....
