Frustration, can't find builder to bring my ideas to life.

I swear, I feel so frustrated...I just can't find a builder/designer that can understand or bring my ideas to life. A part of the problem is myself, I am bad with tools and I don't know how to describe what I need.

I want to incorporate wood veneer paneling into my theater room but nobody seems to know how to do this. I see this done in so many design magazines and office buildings yet nobody has a clue or describes how it is done.

Does anyone have a name for this technique? I see alot of home theater designs that use this and to me it looks very unique and professional.

Every time you see a picture of a home theater or design feature that you like, bookmark the page and save the picture. Then print or e-mail the link/jpg to the builder.

You know the new saying... "A jpeg is worth 1K words."

Do you mean "wainscoting"?

Yes, although even with the jpegs I seem to still get puzzled looks.

Here is an example that I have been showing everyone:

Simply put, it looks like wall paneling using 3/4" sheets with book matched hardwood veneer. Look for a production shop in your area.

So are those plywood panels that are applied over the drywall?

From looking at that pic, it looks like as has been described that a veneer has been applied to plywood (or MDF) backboard. Some kind of edge treatment was applied and you can't really tell from the pic.

The veneer was then stained and probably a protective coating was applied.

Looking at the picture you see that the panels were mounted some what off the wall probably sone some kind of grid and hanger system. The most obvious place you can see this is at the bottom.

I'd suggest a local custom cabinet shop.

OR

After 5 minutes of googling around I found the exact product!!!!!!!!!

I looked and looked on google (over 5 days worth) and could not find this! I feel so stupid!

Thank you so much, I think this is exactly what I have been looking for.

You can also contact a local architect or interior designer. Those folks usually have a vast network of contractors that they have worked with to pull of their ideas and visions.

You can do veneer yourself, its incredibly easy. Go to a Barnes and Noble and look through some Veneering or Marquetry books. Good veneer stuff found on ebay.

I don't know that these two mix too well.

Bingo!

I am good at doing simple stuff like hanging a plasma tv and running wires through walls. When it comes to applying veneer I think it would look like crap if I did it.

I failed workshop class when I was little. I have little time to learn, but lots of money to give away to someone who can do a better job than me.

I MUST be in the wrong the business. I can't believe you can't find someone willing to take your money. But then again, everytime I go to Walmart, I feel like I have to wait WAY too long to get someone to take my money.

Good luck!
