I need help on how to set up a D-Vhs deck Mitsubishi hs-hd2000u to record from my new Fios hd set top box. The Ieeee 1394 connection connects well from mitsubishi hdtv crt to D- Vhs but the connections for 1394 on Fios box are larger ports than those on tv or d-vhs. The manual is worthless. I can't even get the menu to show on the tv. How many cables to you need and type and need help with connection set up. Thanks. Totally lost! fios Quip6200-2 box HD...

Sounds like the Fios has a 6 pin connector. The ones on the Mits are 4 pin. The extra 2 pins are for powering connected devices, and are often not needed. There are 4 pin to 6 pin cables readily available. --hourglass

Hey,
thanks for responding. I can't believe the firewire would be that hard to set up. I can't even get the d-vhs to work directly to the tv with the supplied cable no menu and no picture of black tape.

Get the 6 to 4 pin cable..
But, you still need to have an analog connetion from the d-vcr to the tv to view the menu..
You prob already know that, and I'm misreading your post, but just in case..
