I don't know if its subconscious or its real, but I finnaly got a new receiver and speaker setup and am able to get TrueHD and HOLLY ****!! put in Tokyo Drift with DD+ and thought it was great, then put in V for Vendeta and HOLLY **** my ears dropped to the floor..most amazing sound I have ever heard out of a DVD before....am I crazy? or can others hear the difference too? and what makes a TrueHD track so different from a DD+ track?

Well, what you have to do is compare the DD+ and TrueHD tracks of the same movie. Any other comparison is meaningless. Compare a couple scenes from V for Vendetta, first listening to the DD+ track then the TrueHD track. Then just trust your ears as to how much of a difference you can perceive between the lossy and lossless tracks.

Ditto Capek.

Also, reset volume levels with TRUE HD vs DD+ as there may be differences in recorded level with each soundtrack that will bias your impressions when comparing.

You don't say if you're listening with an HDMI receiver by the way. Nice to know. Is there a difference? A significant one. And I would compare TrueHD to PCM on blu ray. Both dynamite. DD+ I would compare with DTS-HD (core) at 1.5 Mbps of blu ray tracks.

Batman Begins, that TrueHD track is " oh my " and is the only one I have heard that is equal in impressiveness to BD PCM tracks, amazing stuff

which proves (to me) that the Toshiba players implementation and analog outputs are not the issue for negligible differences between DD+ and TrueHD, it is the software

It depends on the bitrate of the DD+ track.

I believe that Tokyo Drift is using 1.5 mbps DD+, which is very good. Certainly very close to TruHD. Overall I'd give TruHD the edge when equivalent amounts of source data are presented. But 1.5 mbps DD+ trounces everything else before it, inclusing 640 k DD.
