Warner has released its HD DVD and Blu-ray slate for France.

Here's the titles from that list that haven't been announced or released in North America yet.

Note that some titles are released by Warner in Europe whereas they are distributed by other studio in America (such as The Island or The Prestige).

April 25
The Island

May
Flags of Our Fathers

June
The Prestige
Natural Born Killers
Matrix (IME) (HD DVD only)

July
Mad Max 2
Matrix Reloaded (IME) (HD DVD only)

August
The Goonies
Matrix Revolutions (IME) (HD DVD only)

Letters from Iwo Jima

September
L.A. Confidential
Blade Runner
Poltergeist

300 (IME) (HD DVD only)
Blood Diamond (HD DVD only)
Zodiac

October
Dirty Harry
The Enforcer
Sudden Impact
Magnum force
The Dead Pool

Music and Lyrics
The Reaping

November
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (IME) (HD DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire(IME) (HD DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (IME) (HD DVD only)
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (IME) (HD DVD only)

December
2001 A Space Odyssey
A Clockwork Orange
Eyes Wide Shut
Ocean's eleven (1960)
Ocean's eleven (2001)
Ocean's twelve
The Shining
The Wizard of Oz

Of course, there may be variations between this and the American slate, but this gets us in the ballpark.

I'm wondering how long the IME titles will be HD DVD exclusive. Still in November 2007? Sounds strange to me. Will Java interactivity still not have caught up by that time?
I was hoping the Matrix trilogy would be sooner and be a box set.
Yeah, it'd be nice to have a box set, but at least my wallet will have a little time to recoup between those releases. Man, I'm gonna have a busy year.
So why have they been announced in Europe, but not in the US?

I hope WB has set a drop dead date on BD getting there java figured out with regards to thier commitment to catch BD up. By the looks of that list there is no such commitment in Europe.

Anyone know if the new date and day titles in NA have IME? If so I wonder if there is some type of production problem holding up Batman to BD and them releasing more HD DVD exclusives.

I wanted a boxset too.

And why is Blood Diamond so far down the line?

Oh well. If it's for quality's sake then so be it.

I was hoping TMNT would be in that list too .

Again, note this are releases for the French market. Theatrical release dates are different, so dates for new releases are the likeliest to vary from America to Europe. FWIW Blood Diamond has been announced on SD DVD in the US for March.

Yes, Blood Diamond is 3/20/07...I've already pre-ordered one from MovieStop.

The Road Warrior, NBK, L.A Confidential, The Goonies............ WTG WARNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If Blood Diamond has IME, then it may not be released day-and-date just yet. Warner may be waiting for BD-J to be ready (sometime later in the year) so that HD DVD doesn't get anymore titles early.

That would really suck if true.
Oh, man, I'm still recovering from this announcement...

Road Warrior (Mad Max 2)!

Goonies!

Poltergeist!

The Prestige!

The Island! (ok, it was dumb fun, gotta admit)

Holy Schnikes!!!!!
I can't wait for The Prestige and some others... looks like Europe will save the day for some movies that are only in Blu-ray here in the US...

I'll take a VC-1 Warner-made transfer over any other studios (except Universal perhaps). Their consistency has been amazing despite a few rought spots with "bobbed" titles.

WOW!!...

There are a lot on that list that I want. I'm glad to see The Island!!

Tony from Xploited Cinema is going to have his work cut out for him. Especially if Warner U.S. keeps playing "wussy" over here and "playing fair" by not releasing titles that are clearly ready for production just because Blu-ray isn't yet a fully functioning platform (and apparently won't be for some time... ... ).

No need to admit anything. From the titles you listed The Island is actually my favourite movie. Liked it a lot.

I'm glad it's not a boxset because I don't want the last two movies.

That's an excellent lineup, provided all those titles(except for The Prestige and The Island obviously) make it over here at the same time. Nice job, WB! Now where's Paramount?!

I'll drink to that! There is only The Matrix. The other 2 don't exist.

I am pleased with quite a few titles on that list. I am glad we are getting both Letters and Flags. Goonies? OF COURSE! 300? FANTASTIC! Potters? Yeah! The Prestige? OF COURSE!

Looks like I may have a bit of importing to do this year, at the very least.

Agreed wouldn't have minded reloaded if revolutions was better. Really the third movie sucked so bad it destroyed my willingness to watch the second movie because it sets a path that I thought was going to be great into a path that was pretty ridiculous.

2001! Bladerunner! Matrix! Dirty Harry!

Yowza. This is gonna be a good year for HD watching and owning. Great lineup.

Yep, the Matrix and SW prequels pretty much followed that same pattern for me. But Matrix Unloaded does have some pretty sweet action sequences, so it'll be tempting to pick that one up on HD-DVD.
Yeah I'll buy at LEAST 6 of those and might go berserk on Harry Potter and buy the last 2 Matrix flicks too... I thinkt he differentiating factor will be how many of these are imports. I'll buy the 6 probably either way (although my import cap will probably be $30-35) but say if this list were domestic (surely not all of it will be) then I'd buy around 10 I suppose.

Good news for HD-DVD!

I guess the Island has more fans then we care to admit. I would pick it over any of the Matrix trilogy...
There's at least 10-12 on that list I'll buy. I'm hoping they'll come to the US earlier than Europe. Any idea when they'll be announced here?

I will definitely buy The Island

I'm wondering why we see French release dates. Isn't the north American market bigger than France ?

It would be interesting if these European publishers start noticing numbers much larger than their supposed market. They better press a few extra since HD DVD is one region...

I guess it must be Warner leaking what they have on their plate without needing to make a US announcement. FWIW, they released Harry Potter GOF in the UK and not the US, although for all practical purposes it's a US version and would have been a huge hit here!

Wonder how many folks imported that title? I did
post #29 of 177
Awesome...ill pick up about 15 of those...I bet we will see those in the US before these dates.
OK what's the deal with WB releasing two of those movies overseas?

Are there other BD-only properties that WB controls overseas?
