Looking for advice on new receiver etc...

Here is what i have right now:

HP 65inch 1080p TV (2 hdmi inputs)
TWC in NYC HD PVR explorer 8300hd
oppo dvd player (not sure model number, its' a year old, does upconvert to 1080p)
PS3 (used for both blu ray and games)
XBOX 360 games only really, don't think i need the HD DVD add on (maybe)
Nintendo WII

I am looking to get a new receiver and speakers, possibly a video scaler if people suggest that would be a good idea. (right now i have a 5 year old yamaha receiver and Paradigm speakers which will be used in the bedroom instead)

Obviously looking to get the best picture and sound possible for HD movies/HDTV and Video Games. My first choice from only quickly looking around is the Denon 4806CI

Anyone with any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated...thanks in advance

My budget for everything all in (speakers, receiver, wiring, universal controller, installed and calibrated) is $8k to $10k.

Thanks
Tom

If you are not in a rush you should wait for the new receivers with HDMI 1.3 and new audio codecs but there is no set date.

i know alot is based on personal opinion....but what would the difference be if I chose to buy now and not wait for things u mentioned, 1.3 and such....safe to say I would regret it?? Always find that there is always something that you can wait for around the corner....

appreciate it thanks

and will prices be alot higher with this new technology incorporated?

You could save some money by going with a panasonic XR55 or 57 and then upgrade when the new stuff comes out. Your largest improvement will always come from speakers and as long as the amp can drive them withing their rated specs the amp has little effect.
