Annoying Crackle

I have 30" Philips HDTV, at least I think its 30", but may be a 32". Either way, I am getting an annoying crackling from the speakers, particulary when viewing HDTV programming. I have a Scientific Atlanta HDTV DVR Combo box from the local cable company. I am an AV neophyte so that's the only information I can provide.

Does Any one have any suggestions to alleviate the crackling?

You're in the wrong forum, you want the direct view forum, but try running a separate audio source into the set, like a CD player. See if it crackles then, If so, then it's a problem in the set and it should be sent out for servicing. If it's only when a video source is present, then it could be a source issue.

possibly turn down the volume ont the HDTV receiver?
