"uncut and uncensored"?

Does this mean that there's a Director's cut, or that Chinese theatres are notorious for censoring movies but they'll be getting the whole movie this time?

There could be, but I am thinking it is the refrence to the one that was show in theaters. Nothing had to be cut out the movie that was show here.

It means that the film was somewhat different in different parts of the world. In locations other than the U.S., some sequences were more violent (the men's room assasination in the pre-title sequence, the stairway battle, and possibly others). To achieve the all-important PG-13 rating here in the states, the film had to be edited so that in those sequences they "got on to the death quicker." In the U.K., the shot where Le Chifre drops the knotted end of the torture rope over Bond's shoulder while standing behind him had to be cut. Censors thought it too suggestive. The director's original cut had all of those at full throttle. We'll get the PG-13.

So i guess it's safe to assume the first blu-ray release (let's not fool ourselves, Sony will double/triple/quadriple dip the hell out of this movie) will be the vanilla PG-13 version?

"After 21 films, it's obviously very significant, given that we are the first Bond film to be shown here," he said. "The fact that we got it through without any censor cuts at all seems to me to be some kind of achievement."

This pretty much sums it up. The uncut and uncensored version means our original release will play there without the Chinese government cutting out parts it deems "unpatriotic" to their cause. There is no extended version.

They may be getting our release "uncut" but from what Cam Man said earlier our version is actually an edited version. So while it there may not be an extended version (no clue if the unedited scenes were longer), ours isn't what would be considered the "directors cut". Well that's what i'm understanding given his comments.

I'm not sure I'd put "capitalism" anywhere in that. There is no where near enough capitalism in that country.

It's kind of like saying someone is partly dead.

Hong Kong is now part of China, and the still in-principle 'communist' government has done an amazing job at fostering or allowing privatization. They still have a long way to go, but they are far from a pure socialist planned economy, and certainly are not "totalitarian". I think their slow and steady approach to growing a freer market and society look pretty good compared to the utter mess in the former Soviet Union.

As for the thread topic, I'm still confused, will there be an uncut release in NA, or would I need to order from elsewhere? Are they all multilingual or is there at least an English one with no subtitles I could get?

I don't have an inside on Casino Royale...and didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night I just read an interview with the director in which he covered this subject.

I want the same exact cut that was in theaters here.

I have mixed feelings about these kind of things. I don't like "Director's Cuts" that are just there to sell another copy of the movie (which most are). Sometimes, producers and editors involved are doing the right thing by cutting scenes. But if scenes were dropped from the final, completed production in the US just to get a PG-13 rating, but not elsewhere, then that's BS. I'm not a teenager, I don't have one in the house, and I want to see the whole thing.

Please keep politics off the threads otherwise I will be tempted to reply and I don't wanna be banned.
