Oh no! This isn't going to work is it?!

I'm getting a Panny ax100 and either a 112" or 120" diagonal 2.35 screen. I'm concerned about this 2.0 "throw ratio" that I hear about but don't understand. The panny will be ceiling mounted, 13 to 13.5 feet back about 12 inches above the screen top. From the bottom of the screen to the floor will be about 2 feet (give or take a couple of inches depending on screen size). Was planning on a Panamorph or Prismasonic lens.

Will I be ok ratio wise with either the 112" or the 120"? Or is it back to 16x9 land for me. (I can't move the projector back because of vaulted ceilings....

Forgot to mention that I've only got until tomorrow to pull the plug. I currently have a 112" diagonal 2.35 screen enclosure being built. If anybody can help with the calculations above I would greatly appreciate it!

waptap,

You should be perfectly fine with the 112" 2:35 ratio screen and 13' projector throw. Throw ratios are calculated using the original unexpanded image, which is the 16:9 (1.78) image. A 112" diagonal 2:35 screen has a height of 44". 44" x 1.78 equals a 78" wide unexpanded (16:9) image. You said your projector will be mounted 13' back, times 12 to get inches = 156 inches of throw. 156' divided by 78" = a throw ratio of 2.0, which is very much in the recommended range. Here is a link to Prismasonics web page that discusses this. Prismasonic Compatibility

Knowing what I know now, the 112" screen is probably best for your projector throw distance. Good luck!

I am trying to decide weather to buy the AX-100 before the current promotion runs out. I am looking at a Prismasonic 1500 lens and a 115" 235x1 Stewart screen with a 15 foot throw. How is your system coming along? Appreciate any feedback on it.

Don't move in until May, so am holding out on ordering projector and lens a bit longer. I did go with the 120" screen. The built-in for it is massive. I've already gotten high-fives from other folks who have seen it. I can't wait!!!
