da-Lite "MW - HCMW - VS - GB - HP"

hi,

i've recently purchased Epson tw700 pj and looking for a screen to go with it. i got samples from da lite for the 5 types of the screen material

Matte White
High Contrast Matte White
Video Spectra
Glass Beaded
High Power

unfortunately the samples are sized only half A4 page so it's not good to get an idea of it.

i do daytime watching especially sports, mostly football -soccer- and i don't have a light controlled room.

i did like the High Power though. it's great when you look directly to it. but if you move two seats side it's just like matte white or worse.

i thought High Contrast Matte White would be the solution for my screen dilemma but it didn't give me that satisfaction over matte white. it might be because i use such small samples.

i like to hear your opinions and experiences on these da-lite surfaces considering i have tw700 and don't have a light controlled room.

I'm in the same boat trying to figure out which one I like best. It seems to go from brightest to darkest in this order in my setup (panny ae1000u 8' up) - HP, VS, MW, CV, HCMW, HCCV. I like the HP for its amazingly bright picture, but its got the worst blacks and just as you said...two seats over and its the same as matte white. since i'm planning on a large screen, it doesn't seem to make sense to go with that.

I'm trying to find a happy medium i like. video spectra has good light and detail, and decent blacks. hcmw seems sufficient to me for the blacks and colors, but whites are pretty dark.

hccv makes the percieved contrast amazingly high because of how dark it gets. i think that if i had a whole screen of hccv and not just a sample, i wouldn't care/notice the dirtier whites. it also seems to do pretty well in my bright room w/about 60% controllable light. Only problem i have with it is the price tag. can't go fixed, and i would like to not have to spend $2k or more on the screen if i didn't have to.

cinema vision also seems to provide a good medium as well. MW is.....MW. Haven't seen a silver sample, but not sure it matters cause of my large viewing area.
