Please Help--Volume goes down everytime channel is changed

Having a problem with setup here. I have my Olevia 232 tv hooked up to the comcast HD Box by Pace, via HDMI cable, also have coax to Onkyo 790 and everytime I change the channel the volume goes down on the receiver. I have to go into the cable settings and change to digital dolby everytime, I cannot correct this. I also have a Philips DVDr 3400 to TV via component video and Tos link to reciever. Please give me some help or suggestions. Thanks

Do you have a universal remote or IR repeater system? It sounds like the remote control frequencies are overlapping between the receiver and the CATV box.

If you turn off the CATV box, and attempt to change the channel with the CATV remote, does the volume on the receiver change?

If you turn on the CATV box and attempt to change the volume with the receiver's remote, does that change the CATV channel?

Answering these questions may help to isolate the problem.

I use the Onkyo Remote, I've noticed it does this only on HD channels, I've read through some post, and I guess this is somewhat normal. I switched the hook up to component and I do not have the same issue, Does this happen because the HDMI cable supports both audio and video, and it overrides the coax I have for audio?

Thanks for your help
