I was listening to the radio on my drive home Tuesday night and heard Tom Leykis
(for those that don't know, he's a pretty popular syndicated radio talk show personality - I actually don't like him, but I digress) talk about the format war between BD and HD DVD
His discussion did not contain a lot of details, but I was impressed that he was accurate in getting the big picture right (that BD's main supporter is Sony and that it had exclusive studios including Sony etc, while HD's main supporter is Toshiba and that it had its own exclusive support).
The most interesting part was his conclusion - dual format players are coming, and he was going to get one of those because he didn't want to wait for the war to be resolved before enjoying high def movies.
Although he is certainly not what people here refer to as a J6P, I think his mentality represents a good portion of the general population (people who aren't AVS forum devotees).
Anyhow, food for thought
