Tom Leykis is format neutral

Thread Starter
I was listening to the radio on my drive home Tuesday night and heard Tom Leykis
(for those that don't know, he's a pretty popular syndicated radio talk show personality - I actually don't like him, but I digress) talk about the format war between BD and HD DVD

His discussion did not contain a lot of details, but I was impressed that he was accurate in getting the big picture right (that BD's main supporter is Sony and that it had exclusive studios including Sony etc, while HD's main supporter is Toshiba and that it had its own exclusive support).

The most interesting part was his conclusion - dual format players are coming, and he was going to get one of those because he didn't want to wait for the war to be resolved before enjoying high def movies.
Although he is certainly not what people here refer to as a J6P, I think his mentality represents a good portion of the general population (people who aren't AVS forum devotees).

Anyhow, food for thought

I think you will find most folks here jump on dual format players when a good one comes out.For most here its about High Definition first and foremost.

Yep, ill get a duel player as soon as it does everything. Not the half player that is out now.

But in a way its good see pepole talking about the formats in a public fourm such as radio. Hopfully we will see somthing on basic TV explaining it all. Although most of the stuff I see or read is mostly general and dosent go indepth. I'd guess most reporters wrighter don't care so they just meet the minmimum requerments...

Yep. I have the add-on drive for my 360 right now, but the moment that a competent dual-format player hits (at the right price), I'm all over it. My prediction is that dual-format players will help HD-DVD more than it will hurt them.

He is pretty smart on many issues, but personally I find his attitude toward women disgusting. He has many good points and some good advice, but I hated it when he would degrade them as something less than human, such as calling them human sperm depositories or toilets.

Plus, he likes to make himself feel like a big man by talking about how much money he has. To me, money is not the measure of a man.

And yes, I am male.
