Many of this forum know about the THX Optimizer that is included with a THX certified DVD. It is not the best calibration DVD but it is better than not using any type of calibration DVD to calibrate your HDTV.

THX is offering a free THX Optimizer DVD with the Advanced Test Pattern and a free pair of their famous THX blue glasses if you bought the US version of the Cars DVD.

THX states...

They also removed the Cars US version link from the http://www.thx.com/home/dvd/optimizer/index.html page for the Cars US version link is what took you to the http://www.thx.com/home/dvd/optimizer/cars/fpTest.html page that I found and filled out. Hopefully THX.com will put it back up.

I got my copy today with the free glasses, took a couple of weeks to get here. I'm guessing they got flooded with requests as I've seen the above info posted at several dozen sites.

Looks like THX has pulled the plug on the free calibration disk and blue glasses. I just got mine in the mail today. Unless they reopen the page to the link I posted above.

I can't get any THX site to work. I could be that they are having website issues and not that they ended the offer.

That promo was different than the offer THX offered for those who bought the US version of the DVD movie "Cars". That offered allowed the owners to get a DVD with just the THX Optimizer and the THX Blue Glasses, free of charge.

THX has removed the "US Cars" link that was at the bottom of this page...

THX.com has put the page back (new www address) up for the free THX Optimizer DVD with the Advanced Test Pattern and a free pair of their famous THX blue glasses if you bought the US version of the Cars DVD. Based on the previous www address I have to guess that THX was just testing the process and now they are ready to roll.

Well, I ordered mine in early Febuary, (maybe Feb 2 or so). But Still havent seen them. I see that some folks have already recieved their copy. I hope that doesnt mean my order was lost.

If you cannot read the ISBN, you can find it at Toysrus.com. The number is labeled "UPC/EAN/ISBN" but is really just the ISBN number.

I haven't gotten mine either. Fortunately I already have a set (wanted the free one as a backup).

Yeah, I just checked site again and it does say 4-6 weeks, guess I was just getting jumpy. Pretty sure I didn't order mine until around feb 2. sometime between jan 25 and feb 2 anyway. I still have the Avia filter, so no big issue, just thought the glasses might be a little easier to use.

Hi All,

I moved to a new home and I can't find my avia disk. I do have this free thx dvd with glasses. Just wondering how accurate are the results with this thx dvd against an avia. Has anyone try to do calibrate using this dvd then compare the results on avia?

I also have a blue filter that came with my colorfacts software. Will the thx filter work exactly the same?. are all blue filters available the same?.

The free THX glasses came in today. Thes wre ordered end of January, or first of Feb. so for those of you waiting, have patience.

Looks like THX has ended the promo. Unless I'm missing something, the cars link just redirects to the general optimizer page and there is no mention of free optimizer disk or glasses to be found.

No based on my experience. The filters that came with AVIA were of different from the DVE ones. Example - both have blues but when you compare them side by side, DVE's blue is darker.
