The thing that freaks me out the most is the effect of the caffeine. Maybe I should switch to decaf?

My thoughts exactly. But just a thought. No way do I give up caffeine. I am drinking a cup of joe as I type.

LOL. I've received lots of negative attention about that do-it-yourself article I wrote, but I stand by it!

Yes, but you won't have dedicated jump/back buttons where they belong.

Why couldn't I use the back button on the RCU810 as a dedicated ReplayTV jump/back button?

following up on this story..

Here is a second source about the behaviours of drugged up spiders. This one is video. Some of the information conflicts with the first source.

LMAO. That is as funny was the link to http://www.cowabduction.com/ you made. I agree some of the information conflicts with the first source.

I knew Karnac would be the one to ask.

Reminds me of the time those kids led me on to a basketball court and started omniously chanting, "Kobe, Kobe, Kobe..."

I just walked off the court and they booed

wasn't up for a slam dunk

Who/what is Karnac?

However sixt7gt350 is (on occasion) somewhat conventionally precise. I'd almost expect consistent capitalization on an acronym.

Which has me more thinking proper noun as in Karnac_the_Magnificent?

Having read prognostication(s) since back before the days of: Ok, I have the step ladder, three big macs, bicycle pump and mink mitt Over the top. It's much easier to make a nice big wad of paper when it's over the top. Somehow got the Carnak Connection in there somewhere.

To Sixt7's credit, it would appear we have riker to thank for misspelling Carnak?

Wouldn't especially have guessed this (apparently) humorous yet salient quatrain (a jab at riker?) would go on to surpass even Dionne Warwick and the Psychic Friends Network.

Of course The KenL (for perhaps years) thought the geeky Overpaid 'Sitter was an assertive (but friendlier) She, in the mold of no other than Dr Curmudgeon. Likely because of whining about diapers or something, scolding TroLLo (and The KenL) and perhaps the sardonic (superhydrophobic) wit. Deliriously drifting ever shy of Howard County?

Come to find our chapstick saphite is, has always been, He.

Karanc, post-padding merrily away -- who are we kidding 711 (take your choice) job applications? mailboxes? pairs of longjohns? and/or calicow quips? in not even half as many moons.

Routinely hacking along, killing threads for dinner, TinFoil hat in pocket, trying to save those ankles.

More humbling words by KenL.

Because though they make no sense at all, each and every other person on this planet can make more sense out of them than I can.

How did the habit of regular trolling come about in the ReplayTV & Showstopper PVRs forum? By trolling, I specifically mean off-topic posting--not inflammatory posting.
Apparently, to a minor degree it predates even the KenL.

But the singing dancing one raised the offbeat, obscure, stream of consciousness (unintelligible) *trolling* to a whole new Boösaule Montes .... co-opting this increasingly *defunct* tech support destination into:

Cow's Off Topic Blog and Diner

COTBD: Always something to chew on.

(I mean how many of us would still be here otherwise)

Yes, cow has made this place more enjoyable. Let him troll.

Not to get back on topic, but one of these days The KenL will give Karnac a break.

Today is not that day.

Jab? Yes.

It's been my user title ever since.

As for "the KenL," I've never read anyone so excessively, obnoxiously, and excretorially verbose. (but in an entertaining way, like 'cow's acid flashbacks)

Now where were we? Oh yeah, I was reprogramming my 5000 remote for the LCD TV.

icecow, tell me about shaving. have you watched the wet shaving videos at google video and/or youtube?

I'm guessing you have a thick dense beard like mine.

shaving has always been a pain. I used disposable single edge razors before I started using safety razors aka double edged razors aka DE razors. The two blade disposables just clog up after several strokes. Maybe the mach5 junk do better but my face trashes blades fast so there's no way I could afford them if they worked.

Now I use a safety razor called a 'slantbar'. It sort of twists the blade slightly for a more sheering edge. It is easy to tear up ones face with one. I was in no hurry to use it. After I got used to a standard DE I tried the slantbar. The first shave went pretty well because I spent an exagerated amount of time. Then, on subsequent days as I let by guard down, I started tearing up my face here and there and stopped using it. Then a month or so later I started using it again and had no problems and never stopped using it. It is particularly enjoyable when I haven't shaved in 4-5 days. It has a sheering action.

I don't recomend rushing things with DE razors. visualize a 2 month stretch and nonchalantly live it out. I'd describe successfully using a slantbar on a 4 day beard as similar to scraping your face with a clamshell in 2" patches with a (learned) even amount of pressure. It sheers it right off. Then, if I bother(about half the time), I wash my face/relather and go a second pass upwards with much lighter pressure (the weight of the razor (or the simulated weight of the razor in upstrokes) is nearly enough).

When shaving each day, or every other day, I use the non-slantbar.

A lot of it is learning the direction your hair grows on your face. It helps much to know. After 3 or 4 months I started j-hooking and similar techniques. It is hooking the razor in a j-motion on certain areas of your face (areas that you know which direction the hair grows) that are more difficult to clear.

Most shaving creams out there are crap. Theres many creams that are muuch better. Some are much better at $6, and of course others are sold as luxury items at $40 a pop.

For someone who is not interest in DEs I (everyone) still recommend distinguishing good shaving creams from bad. Low mass foams might be the worst. I believe they took root because they are fun like whipcream and the optimised volume is confused with a optimal texture.

DE razors are loosely clasified as gentle or agressive. With a thick beard I need an agressive one (not sure how it works with reg or thin beards). There's two forms of an agressive razors: an adjustable razor cranked up, and a non adjustable razor set to position. The non adjustable is the way to go IMO.. the angle is set correctly. Turning up an adjustable will make it agressive, but IMO also gives it an undesirable angle. Each non-adjustable razor has it's own idea of closness and angle. I've tried a lot of razors and I like the Merkur HD. Many people do, it is popular, but after trying many, I concured with the mob.

Proraso is a shaving cream I recommend first because it is great, cheap and accessable. It has been used in Italy for ~70ish years (still is). It could be gotten in the States online or at italian grocery stores because italians often ask for it. And lucky for me, they started selling it at Target the same time I started using DE razors. It is not in the mens shaving section, it is in a different section (sometimes called 'Spa'). The section has a bunch of girls stuff and a 1/4 row of mens stuff.

I could send you new average/decent razor to try and some blades, or direct you to cheap place to get a merkur HD. I really don't see a point of using a second best razor after trying figuring out the one that works best for me, or you. I think it's $23.

I can tell you more but I'd like to know you are still listening before I take the time.

Channeling your inner toots?

Dippin' into the pot to call the kettle black? All but the Spooneristic malaproptic neologisms.

KenL is such an udderly unrepentant, cloyingly absonant, sycophantastic, complete lucibratious hosewad.
