We had a day that ended well but had a real rocky start. Ken was side swiped in Michigan by a road raged driver and Darin had two different connecting flights cancelled so finally had to drive from Chicago and didn't get in till 12:30AM.
We had HDMI errors with the calibration disc we have so at least through last night just had to wing it a bit We used several familiar HDDVDs as well as patterns from Ken's Sencore.
Compared to my stack and the RS1 it is indeed very very bright. We got over 27 fL on my screen in high lamp (300 watt) mode. The panel alignment was significantly better than any three panel device I have yet seen. This is something that I can take some more screen shots of today.
I went in with some expectations of noise and dithering artifacts and they aren't there.
As of last night (and remember this is preliminary) we have good gray scale tracking.
We spent some time watching movies including Sky Captain,Serenity,Casablanca and Corpse Bride in HDDDVD. I thought the images were incredibly clean, vibrant, sharp, colorful and three dimensional.
We are going to look at primaries and move the projector back further in the room since right now we are right up to the end of the zoom range to fill the screen. We are getting at little CA so we think this can be mitigated a bit by this move.
Overall so far a tremendous device ! Lots more to come.
