Wii Bowling Scoring Level

I was trying to convince my gf that I am good at Wii Bowling, but she said everybody is that good. So I am posting a thread to see what your score level (or whatever its technical name) is.

I have had my Wii for 2 weeks and my score level is 1996. Please post your score so we can determine what qualifies someone as a Top Notch Wii Bowler.

Wii bowling is not that hard...posting scores higher or lower mostly will indicate how much you have played the game. I am currently at around 1350 but have had little time to play. My highest game which I have bowled twice is 235.
As long as you continue bowling near your highest game you continue to increase your total score so it is really not indicative of how good you are but how much you play.

It's true, it's not that hard a game to play well. My 8 year old niece is up to "pro" level and has a high score of 255. I got to about 1650 pts and then I switched to use my other hand. Playing left handed on my new left-handed Mii, I'm up to about 1500 pts now.

But when you get to about 1600 pts. you have to score about 230-235 just to not lose points. So I think his 1996 pts is pretty high... probably has to hit at least 250 every game.

What I want to know is the highest score games people have had. Is it common to have perfect games? I was ahving curvature issues, but now I finally am having less of them so I did get over 200 once.

Too bad we can't play online and crown a real champ the right way.

I bowl a 300 game at least once a day, and about 3 out of every 10 games I play. I do have many, many 10 or 11 strike games.

I guess the only way they could have a bowling game more accurately reflect your true real life bowling level would be if the wiimote were EXTREMELY sensitive in every way possible, to force you to release it perfectly where you can't get away with bad releases as easily.

I bowled a 276 the second day I had my Wii. Now if I don't bowl at least around 240, it subtracts points from my level.

I find this to be pretty much true also (not necessary those exact scores, but the relative drop/increase in score from previous games). To my recollection, I've probably bowled maybe a dozen games, with the last three scores being 244, 300, and 289. Then after bowling a 220-something the following game, my Wii Level dropped about 100 points; after bowling another perfect game on my next game, my Wii level went back up roughly 200 points.

FWIW--it is possible to somewhat "manipulate" your Wii level by just quitting a game before completion if you feel you're gonna get a relatively-low score--e.g., if my Wii bowling level reflects an average 250/game and I see that my game might turn out to be a 200, I can just quit and not have that game adversely affect my Wii level. I'm not saying that I would do this on a regular basis or am insinuating that anyone here would consider doing so, but thought I'd throw that out there.

definitely! if the 1st few frames aren't strikes- RESTART!

currently 'hovering' at 1100.

I don't have a Wii but I stayed the night at my friend's house and got my score up to 1356 with a high score of 267. Not bad considering that was the first night I ever touched a Wii.

high game of 283 and my level is about 1200...ive been screwing with different release points lately and that cost me some points

Are you guys throwing mostly straight and faster, or starting from one side, throwing a slower ball, but spinning it in towards the middle more?

The reason I ask is, on the power throws training challenge, I've been starting the ball on the far right side for the bigger racks of pins, and really curving it in. This seems to do better, again on the larger racks...

I used to do only large hooks. But now I'm convinced that it's more important to use whatever technique you need in order to be able to repeat it, again and again. And it turns out that for me, this changes from day to day. But mostly I'm learning to bowl much straighter, because it's easier for me to repeat.

My nephew came over a while back and he can bowl in a bunch of different styles and still score well. In fact, he can do it from another room without even seeing the TV. Damn kids.

Move your Mii to the right one line on the lane, and then bowl it straight. I can do 240-270 everytime using this technique, and I typically suck at video games.

Agreed--it's not as if there is only but one technique that works.

Me--I move my Mii five (or six, depending on how "fine" I press the cursor pad) ticks to the right of center so that the aim line is just a hair to the left of the second tick from the right of center, hold the remote in my hand so that it is already in an angled position (i.e., the position my remote would be facing if I were to I twist my wrist during the throwing motion--IOW, I am essentially putting spin on the ball before I even start my throwing motion), then release the ball at a specific release point that, when combined w/ everything else previously mentioned, will pretty much give me strikes everytime. "Everytime", as in, "when I can do this consistently--which of course is easier said than done...but it definitely works for me 'cuz I've bowled two perfect games so far (and would have had a third had I not missed a pin on my 11th throw)...and probably would have a bunch of perfect games if I spend way more time on the Wii than I currently have so far.

Note--I'm not offering my method so as to say that it'll work for anybody...but to show that different folks have different techniques for getting strikes (almost) consistently.

Right curved hook with high power throws. I love how the pins blow up on strikes. My wife bowls a slow straight line between pins 1 and 3 and strikes.

I used to move to the right 5 clicks or so and try to bowl straight but it would always curve in and hit between 1-3, but there were times when I would only knock 4 or 5 down. When I did the power challenge I decided to try something different that I had accidentally learned on the curve challenge. Now I move my Mii to the left a couple clicks and then rotate my Mii's body to the right. The ball still hits between 1-3 now, but it seems to knock more pins down, giving me strikes in the first few (4 or 5) levels of the power challenge. I haven't earned a gold medal there yet but I think I can do it. I know I couldn't with my old technique.

If I do it straight it always curved left. So I move the direction pad to the right some. If I barely point the wiimote to the right, it goes right. So I cant really get it going straight down the middle without moving that directional pad.

When I turned pro, I got a ball with stars on it. Is this ball perhaps different?

Yes, it has starts on it.

I think they give you that ball, just to denote the fact that you are a pro...it doesn't behave any different however.

I just bowled a 300! My skill level is over 1800! I bowl left handed and have the game down to a science. My average is around 280.

Here is a link to a machine that some guy made that will bowl a perfect strike in Wii Sports bowling every time.

Has anyone heard anything about the official PBA? bowling game that is coming out?
