Hi all,

I am moving to Europe for work and I want to take my DVD collection with me. I have about 200 DVDs and I know they use a different region DVDs in Europe. So the question is, can I take my American DVD player to Europe and just plug it into a TV there given that I have a power (current) converter?

Thanks

Your US DVD Player outputs NTSC. Europe uses PAL and SECAM. If your TV in Italy can take NTSC then you should be good to go. However, unless it has PAL-to-NTSC or native PAL output and can be made region free then you probably won't be able to use it to play Europen discs. To be sure, it would help if you identified the make/model of your DVD player as it may be multi-format.

Hi, its SD-K760SU by Toshiba. I don't mind purchasing another DVD player in Italy for European DVDs. I just want to take this DVD player (or another I can purchase while I am still in the U.S.) so I can watch my NA DVDs in Italy

You could buy any dvd player that is able to convert to NTSC to PAL. For example, buy an Oppo 970 or so. Works on 110-240 V, 50-60 Hz, takes NTSC or PAL, outputs NTSC or PAL and can be made region free. Its all you need in the US and in Europe. In fact I use one myself (in Europe) for all my NTSC and PAL dvd's. Many other players can do the same, but you have to browse and read for some time
