So they say the AppleTv comes out this month and there has been no actual date release. I have checked Apples website and called the local Apple store and they just say Feb. Has anyone heard anything otherwise?
Typically, Apple will just start shipping them to the pre-orders. A week or so after that they will start showing up in the B&M Apple stores. Very seldom does Apple actually announce that they have started to ship a product.
Check the "Why AppleTV Matters" thread. One poster has already ordered his and expects it late Feb/early Mar, or something like that. But I thought they were gonna shed some more light on it during tonight's Super Bowl. I guess not.
The other thing I noticed about Apple and pre-orders for announced products is that whenever they start to ship, they usually ship with a free upgrade to overnight delivery from the point of manufacture -- usually China.
This reminds me of a former job at a major computer company. Whenever we said "will release in 4th quarter", we included December 31, but many customers expected October 1!
I was never entirely sure if it was an urban legend or true, but there was a story that we had promised a February release of something, and by golly we made it - on February 53rd!
I've heard from someone testing the device that it's not ready yet. This would stand to reason given the "February" release date. Apparently, there are numerous bugs.
I found the report rather interesting given how extensively I played with the device at Macworld. It seemed really stable. Maybe the it's syncing or wireless playback that isn't working. I suspect even with 802.11n that playing back from the hard drive might make the most sense.
If you wanted to be the first one on your block, goto your Apple Store and get one reserved. They will get the first shipment before most of the online orders.

Right now all I want to do is check it out in person. I want to see the U.I and the quality before I get it.
